#27 Please help with barcode.patch

Please let me know how to install the new barcode patch. I have placed it in the root directory and the program says not a valid working directory. Sorry for so many posts but I would like this feature to work

I think it's best to apply the patch on the version of the code for which is was created. This should have been mentioned in the issue itself.
