Sales staff can't sell without the items/stock privilege. Unfortunately this gives them access to inventory manipulation which isn't ideal for my business.
With just the item module active, the following error message comes up.
"You do not have permission to access the module named Sales (items)"
I observed this too, i tried endlessly until i granted permission to the stock module which totally defeats the purpose of keeping the stock privilege away from sales staff. Under receiving, requisition reports do not show where stock moved from and to...just a minus and a plus, please help.
The system is getting better and better with the features, not sure how the invoice feature works during a sale, nothing seemed to happen.
I agree on the item permissions, will look into this when I find the time.
maybe the name 'invoice' is not the correct one. The idea behind this feature it to apply customized numbering to sales and receivings. These numbers can also be used to search these sales or receivings afterwards/
In my country we need to apply this numbering to all 'invoices' (which are sales on which a customer pays no tax to the seller, but settles afterwards wtih the state). This numbering requires specific formatting and we need to make a report of these at the end of the year. In this case also special templates are used, but this is not yet present in ospos.

I have a patch for this issue. This one will be pushed to github today or latest tomorrow.
Patch consists of adding new sub permissions for the sales and receivings modules, allowing an admin to grant access to sell or receive to / from specific stock locations.
The patch includes the addition of two extra rows in database, as well as some code changes.
how to install the updated patch because i got errors from putting them into the query

I'm wondering if you can upload the latest database.sql regarding
"You do not have permission to access the module named Sales (items)"
because even though I used the latest database.sql in the github it wasn't able to load the sales without checking the stocks in items list.
