Installation Query

  • Darlene Collins PhD

First time user of this help area. I have an Installation Problem. We are
using a share hosting environment. I down loaded the zip, then uploaded to it
my share hosting account. Then the IT tech at the shared hosting site tried to
follow the installation directions. But he got stuck. Can we get around the
    automated database set up?

The Installation directions for openSIS say "Then open your web browser and go
to the following address: http://<your server="" address="">/opensis/install/index.php The automated installer will guide you
through the setup, create a database or choose an existing one.\" Even after
we select \"use and existing database, we are constantly asked to create a new
database and can't go to the next step of the process. Are we doing something
wrong? What SQL file is it using? When can I expect an answer? What "server"
and "port" is it asking for on the log in page? Should I just leave the
default and put in my sql user name and password?

Has anyone been able to install SIS in a shared hosting environment?
