Hi Andrzej, I guess you have simply seen the limit of the OpenSIPStack real-time parser. I won't be surprised that Kamailo will have significantly higher CPS because it is doing lazy parsing. Meaning parse only the header significant to the current task. Since OpenSIPStack is a multi-purpose stack both catering to proxy and UA functionality I decided that real-time parsing (parse every headers as we get them) would be more desirable. Perhaps that was a wrong choice but it is something we have to work with. I will be dedicating 1.1.6 to significantly improve speed of the stack. Perhaps you have suggestions how to improve performance, I am all ears. I do it all the time for development purposes. I must admit I haven't tried it in a production setting. I think you should start learning a bit of linux before you got this road though. Those two parameters are no longer active. I have decided that it is best that transactions and session event queues only use a single queue. I have recently made a lot of changes which significantly improved OpenSBC CPS rate since RC4. You might want to try the latest and see if you get more throughput from the latest version. Also make sure that the file handle limit is set to unlimited. What you are seeing is the experimental pike mechanism which limits registrations to 5 CPS to augment a potential DoS attack. This is the reason why CPU is at normal level. Hi I have sip platform based on kamailio. It has performance near 500 "REGISTER"s per second. I would like to put it behind opensbc to hide internal platform structure. I use configuration like: [Internal-DNS-Mapping] Internal-DNS-Map Array Size=1 Internal-DNS-Map 1=[sip:sip.my.domain] sip:real-sip-server:5060 and opensbc is listed on port Interface-Address 1=my-real-ip:6060 It works, but... performance is very poor. When on "kamailio" platform it's near 500 registers per seconds, when opensbc is on front of it- it has only 3 registers per second. Systems aren't overloaded - circa 5% cpu usage. -- Andrzej 'The Undefined' Dopierała Linux && Unix && Network administrator PLD Linux Developer HomePage: http://andrzej.dopierala.name/ JID: und...@pi... e-mail: an...@do... |

Hi Joegen, These tests are done on vyatta os installed on Vmware virtual system. OpenSBC is running in Hairpin scenario as my previous post on: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_name=9A0D3E787D1C4C118F5C5D94C4615EDE%40opteron&forum_name=opensipstack-osbcdevel I am not sure about CPS, but it should be between 10 to 20. Memory usage is: Used 50 to 90 MB, Free 450 to 410 MB. CPU load is also normal : Between 30 to 50 % I had no idea how to check IO. Yesterday i tried CVS version, but it was not accepting any calls at all. I think it require some configuration related to authentication. I am now going to test RC4 on another physical system (with vyatta os), for making sure that is the problem with virtual system or not. Thanks Shehzad |

Hi Shehzad, I have made a couple of critical bug fixes to OpenSIPStack transaction layer. Can you upgrade and let me know if > 30 CPS would still crash OpenSBC? Joegen From: Joegen Baclor Sent: Sunday, March 15, 2009 7:32 AM To: ope...@li... Subject: Re: [OpenSBC] opensbc get crashed on increasing test calls I find 30 channels a bit off. We are running hundreds of simultaneous calls on OpenSBC every day for GRN VoIP traffic so I am sure it could handle more than that. Are you running OpenSBC in a hairpin scenario? What's you CPS rate? Resource consumption on your box such as mem, io and cpu consumptions would also be very helpful. I don't find anything wrong with the changes you made in the source. I find 30 channels a bit off. First, download the latest from CVS. I have recently moved the transport listeners to its own section in the admin (SIP-Transports). It would allow you to specify the interface address and port to be used by the back-door. Whe you trombone/hairpin back the call to OpenSBC, make sure that it is routed through the backdoor (default 5062) and not through the main transport listener (default 5060). This would allow the backdoor to change the call-id making it possible for OpenSBC to treat the call separately from the original call. Hi Guys, Why don't you send me your OpenSBC.ini file , call flow diagram together with the level 5 log. I have been pretty busy with other stuffs recently and it is not intentional for me to neglect this thread. Please email me the log directly. The forum isn't friendly to the logging format of opensbc. MY email address is jo...@op.... Joegen |

My kind of setup is not discussed on that site. They use SBC their as outbound proxy. Do you still get the same result? |
