Dear all, we've set up a real world application with OpenSC as middleware and a remote certificate provisioning process. Owner of a SmartCard-HSM can try the online certificate provisioning using the activation process as described in [1]. During the activation process, the online CA will validate a certificate signing request generated in a SmartCard-HSM and issue a SSL client certificate, which can be used via OpenSC to authenticate towards a website or receive encrypted e-mails. Accessing the CardContact Developer Network is one example of using this certificate. With this mechanism, a CA has the ability to ensure, that the key pair has been generated on a trusted hardware (and never leave this device). Because of it asymmetric nature, no keys need to be exchanged between the card issuer and the CA. This enables a user centric model, where the owner of the device could get a certificate from any certificate issuer supporting the scheme. One possible application would be for a website or portal to issue and manage it's own certificates for SSL client access. Rather than defining user name and password, the web site would issue a certificate to be stored on the user's trusted device. Right now, the client software is based on a simple Smart Card Shell script, but in a next step we want to have that functionality integrated in the sc-hsm-tool. The server part - which resembles a simple X509 CA set up - is build using the OpenSCDP scripting server. I was using eToken PRO 64K mostly with no problem several years. Now after moving to systemd in Archlinux I get very unusable openct. I believe that the problem in openct. Problem looks like: After starting openct first time all works fine. After removing token from USB and then plug it back it works only about 8-10 seconds. After that "openct list" shows nothing and ifdhandler died. "/etc/rc.d/openct restart" helps but I can not do it every time :). B.t.w. "/etc/rc.d/openct" has to be an systemctl script but there is no one. I have several archlinux installations. Two of them have moved to systemd and others are still on initscripts. Both "systemd" systems have this issue with ifdhandler death but "initscripts" systems work fine. All systems are up-to-date and regularly updated. How can I make openct to work stable on systemd ? -- Anton [WARM-RIPE] MT NOC division head tel. 8 (3822) 555-797 |

Hello, Spent a couple of evenings to have the github version of Muscle Applet built. Couldn't understand anything from the ant stuff, so did some modifcations on MCardApplet.sh script found from http//en.gentoo-wiki.com/wiki/Musclecard_applet Packages used for the compilation process are: * java_card_kit-2_2_2-linux.zip * jdk-1_5_0_22-linux-i586.bin * https://github.com/martinpaljak/MuscleApplet.git The applet seems to compile, convert and verify without problems. For a reference installed also the older (9.11) version of the applet and build environment. This compiles also fine. We have previously used Athena (atmel based) java cards together with Muscle Applet (up to version 9.11). Things worked fine until opensc 0.12.x. I'm currently testing with opensc-0.13.0 (on 64 bit gentoo). The new applet refuses to work. This can be observed from the output of the initialization command output: # opensc-tool -s 00:A4:04:00:06:A0:00:00:00:01:01 -s B0:2A:00:00:38:08:4D:75:73:63:6C:65:30:30:04:01:08:30:30:30:30:30:30:30:30:08:30:30:30:30:30:30:30:30:05:02:08:30:30:30:30:30:30:30:30:08:30:30:30:30:30:30:30:30:00:00:17:70:00:02:01 Using reader with a card: SCM Microsystems Inc. Dear Danilo, the OpenSC Java part is basically a wrapper that makes the PKCS#11 native interface available as JCE Provider. If you are looking for card access directly from Java, I would suggest to take a look at [1]. Hi all, I'm writing an application that manage smart card (change pin, change puk, unblock pin, generate key pairs, generate certificate) . Is there any library in Java of OpenSC that contains functionally to do this? Thanks in advance Danilo |

Hi. I have a smart card that identifies itself (using ActiveClient) as a Schlumberger Cryptoflex 16K but the card is not supported by OpenSC. It seems to be an older Cryptoflex card. The ATR for the card is : 3B 85 40 FF 63 01 01 03 01 I've tried to add the ATR to the card-flex driver but it doesn't seem to work. Outputs of pcsc_scan and opensc-tool are below. Hello, I uploaded at sourceforge.net [1] the latest released tarballs for the OpenSC sub-projects: - engine_pkcs11 - libp11 - openct - opensc-java - pam_p11 - pam_pkcs11 - pkcs11-helper - sca Only the latest version of each is available. The previous tarballs should be considered as lost. The source code repository has been migrated to github [2] so the code history is _not_ lost. Using github it is also possible to get source code tarball archive corresponding to a release. See [3] for pam_pkcs11 for example. I guess that would be a good idea. I had the same issue with a different mailing list that unsubscribed all members and stopped working out of the blue. Would be nice to see the explanation for discontinuing or moving the list as the last message on the old list, so that people returning from Christmas vacation on Monday know what's going on ;-) Andreas On 01/03/2013 04:15 PM, Andreas Jellinghaus wrote: > if we want to do that: I only disabled the smtp listener in postfix > and the postfix to mailmain gateway. I think it is already too late to use the old list. I also sent a migration notification email last week. Sending a message to the old list should fail. Then you should go to [1] and discover that the project has moved to a new home(s). Bye [1] https://www.opensc-project.org/ -- Dr. Ludovic Rousseau |

Happy New Year, shouldn't we send out a final termination notice as the last message on the old mailing list ? Hi, apache and ssh are still running, but I disabled postfix (smtp listener), mailman, postgrey, postgresql, git-daemon etc. and de-configured trac/ and svn/ from opensc. I changed the front page to the old style with a simple message about moving to github and source forge. Feel free to send me a better info or directly edit /var/www/index.html on the server if you have root access. Regards, Andreas |

Hello, I created a Test [1] project at github. This project is supposed to be used to test integration of github with other services before deploying the configuration to a real OpenSC sub-project. Feel free to use it. You may need to get access rigths. Just ask on this list. Bye, [1] https://github.com/OpenSC/Test -- Dr. Ludovic Rousseau |
