Hibernation

As of today (October 7th, 2007), OpenRumble will no longer be actively developed. After a thorough review of the game's design and direction, I have determined that my current schedule simply cannot sustain a project of this magnitude. Furthermore, there is little real demand for a game like this, especially considering the upcoming release of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. As such, OpenRumble is being set aside, at least for the time being.

Python?

In retrospect, perhaps Python isn't the best choice for this project. I'm still not entirely decided on the matter, but for now C/C++ is the way to go. The problem with Python is that, compared to a native executable, Python is much harder to install and figure out.

Oh, and this sort of flip-flopping is what I do best; it won't be the last time. ;)

Take Two

Okay, the old codebase was terribly disorganized, so the whole thing has been removed. In fact, the project is now moving towards Python, rather than C/C++, because of Python's relative portability and ease of development.

First uploads!

Greetings, loyal fans. OpenRumble's very first CVS uploads have just been made! For a project that I thought would forever remain vaporware, this is a major step, and fully deserving of a change in Development Status (that is, as soon as I figure out how to do that). Keep in touch for the latest updates. In unrelated news, it's the 25th, so Merry Christmas to all!
