Just updated the main project web site with the new update status. There are tons of new screenshots, showing off all of the main parts of the editor that are complete or at least partially complete. The development page also shows the current development status of each part of Open RPG Maker and their estimated percent completion. The development still continues, but is rather slow since I got a job to save up for college. Please bare with me though, and as soon as the editor is finished I will make an initial release of it so people can really play around with it and see what it's all about. |

Open RPG Maker is ready for the initial beta release, but sadly nobody has shown interest in making some tilesets for it. For legal reasons I don't want to distribute some RPG Maker graphics to go with it, but I've posted help requests on sourceforge, and have gone to many RPG Maker resource sites including the charas project. So hopefully it's just a matter of time before I have some tilesets to go with this release. PS: If anybody is interested, or knows someone who may be interested in making some graphics, feel free to drop me an e-mail at: tux...@gm... |

Current Development Status: The ability to create and edit tilesets is complete, and most of the creation/editing of terrain is complete (whats currently needed anyway). The map editor part is almost ready for the first release, so far it can render the map, aside from events, and the ability to change the tiles tiling directions is complete. The last steps needed for the first release is to put the ability to place tiles on the map. NOTE: As I believe I mentioned a while back, these are the parts that will be available in the first beta release (0.0.1) * Ability to create and edit tilesets * Ability to create and edit terrain (minus the ability to set sound effects and vehicle interactions) * Ability to create and edit maps, minus the following abilities: * Ability to place starting location * Ability to place vehicle starting locations * Ability to create and edit events Other tidbits: There is now a forum for Open RPG Maker at http://openrpgmaker.sourceforge.net/forum/index.php where you can submit 'General Discussion' topics, 'Feature Requests', 'Help Topics', and 'Bugs' |
