Been playing with mp1e, first had to patch the v4l code (patch is turned in).
Still looking at the differences for comparable picture quality (overhead/filesize).  
What are you using for commandline options?  From what I can tell I'll have to 
run a seperate mpeg2divx pass to get decent file sizes (1hr = 600-700mb).
