I have written a subsystem that works for me.

It grabs the listing for guide from www.tvguide.com.
It then has a graphic interface for selection which program you want to record.
It has recorder program that sched the recording.

It uses mysql for handling all the data.

It is part of the mjpeg project on source forge.

It is missing graphic interface for play the recordings back. I normal use
it for making svcd.
