Need basic help in allocating resources

I need help dealing with resource allocation in OpenProj. Given a simple project starting at May 1st with let's say two tasks, one task with a duration of three days, the other one takes only one day. Each task may start as early as possible but there are no dependencies. There's only one resource who has to do all the tasks. Currently my project will be finished at May 3rd which is wrong because the resource can't do everything at the same time. The project will be done at May 4th, of course. How do I make my plan aware of resource constraints?

      I wonder the same.

That's a topic known as "resource leveling". I read elsewhere that OpenProj doesn't have automatic resource leveling, a notable missing feature.

The Help for manual resource leveling suggests inserting the "Leveling Delay" column into the table view, and manually add delay to the beginning of the second task, so it no longer overlaps the first.

Scroll up on that help page to see how to use the Resource Histogram, which makes this chore almost practical. It is still tedious because you must manually adjust those delays any time the tasks move around.
