I'm sorry, I don't understand your statement. Maven is platform
independent as it is entirely Java based. If you install 2.2.1
according to the Maven web site
http://maven.apache.org/download.cgi#Installation (rather than packaged
distributions) there should be absolutely no constraints on use with ubuntu.

In addition there are instructions and a package for installing 2.2.1
using the  ubuntu-12.04 packager here;

 http://pkgs.org/ubuntu-12.04/ubuntu-universe-i386/maven2_2.2.1-10_all.deb.html

So what is the problem :)
