I'm trying to run "obexftpd -n 650" on Ubuntu (Jaunty), but it keeps giving me an error "failed to register inet server: Cannot assign requested address". I'm having a hard time tracking down the problem. Any suggestions?
Ports below 1024 are privileged. Are you running the server as Superuser?
I just recompiled OpenOBEX and ObexFTP with debug on and tried again:
$ sudo obexftpd -n 650
inobex_listen(): bind() Failed
failed to register inet server: Cannot assign requested address
Are there any other reasons this bind should fail (e.g. any packages I'm missing that are required for obexftpd)?
Nevermind, I finally tried "sudo obexftpd -n :650" after getting my IP from ifconfig. Could this be added to the documentation for silly people like me? I tried "localhost", "0.0.0.0", etc. after being confused by the manpages.
Thanks for the feedback. You shorter example should have worked. I guess it's a regression with IPv6 added. I'll repair that - or document it otherwise.
I tried "obexftpd -n :650" and that works. I guess it just needed a colon.
