obexftp and siemens c55 - failed: UUID

  • Anonymous - 2003-08-13

I tried obexftp with c55 and got this (known) result:

    [~] $ obexftp -d /dev/ttyS1 -i -v
    Custom transport set to 'Universal/Siemens'
    Connecting...failed: UUID
    failed: target
    Still trying to connect
    Connecting...failed: connect
    Still trying to connect
    Connecting...failed: connect
    Still trying to connect

    I'm using obexftp 0.10.3 and openobex 1.0.0
    through a serial cable.

I see this problem has come up before, but the documentation says that the c55 is working and a UUID fallback for C55 has been added. But it apparently not work for all c55's or have I overlooked something significant?

Also I was just wondering. Searching google I came over a 'java-unlock' for the c55. As the siemens-data-suite for windows apparently do not support file transfer with c55. But you can enable it with this 'java-unlock'. As I understand it siemens have 'locked' the feature for file transfers for some reason - but someone have made an unofficial workaround. Just a thought - could this 'locking' have any influence of the use of obexftp?

That might explain the problem. Others have the same problem with C55. No one came up with that locking mis-feature yet. If I had to place a wild guess I would bet on your suggestion though.
