I have been using OpenNX for a while and am overall pretty happy with
it. There is one strange resizing behavior I noticed though. When I
create a new NX session with dwm being the window manager, if xterm is
the only app running in dwm, resizing the OpenNX virtual desktop has
no effect on the dwm workspace (see attached xterm-dwm-opennx.png).
But after I opened gvim (or gv, eclipse, etc.), then dwm started to
respond to the resizing event (see attached gvim-dwm-opennx.png). I
also played with/changed the tinywm source to try it out with opennx.
The behavior is similar: the root window initially doesn't change when
the virtual desktop resizes; but after I kick off gvim, it starts to
respond to resizing event.
This is not a big deal since it does have a walk-around. But if anyone
has some insights on what's going on, please share for educational
purposes. If the fix is on the wm side and small enough (since the
owner cares a lot about the size of the dwm source code), we can
probably send dwm a fix.
FYI, I am using OpenNX 0.16.0.709 on Mac OS 10.7.4, my NX server is
the NoMachine NXServer - Version 3.5.0-9 running on ubuntu precise.
The dwm version is 6.0.
