Hi, I recently tried using opennx on Windows 10, but the client would crash with no messages once I tried to connect to the server. This exact same configuration works with no problems on Centos 6, so I think it's probably an OS-specific problem. Is this issue known and is there a workaround? Also, I thought I'd ask, if there's no fix for this, does anyone know, is there any way to connect to a legacy freenx server using the new NoMachine client? My understanding was no but I thought I'd ask. Thanks in advance |

Okay thanks! With regards to my earlier issue, even though the binary rpm links were broken, there was a source rpm available, so I downloaded and rebuilt using rpmbuild --rebuild. This solved my problem of Centos installation. With regards to the overall problem of opennx availability for Centos 6 and 7, I posted on the Centos 6 forums about this, one response that I got but didn't confirm is that opennx is now in the nuxdextop repository: http://li.nux.ro/repos.html as package "nx." Thanks for your help and hopefully this information is useful to someone in the future. Hi Cooper
The latest v4 nxssh source is
http://www.nomachine.com/downloads/4.6/sources/nxssh-4.6.12.tar.gz
https://www.nomachine.com/AR09K00690 ( build instructions )
good luck with any library deps ( https://www.nomachine.com/opensource )
and getting it into opennx
else . . . .
the last 3.5 source form 2011 ( which is what I used last time I compiled
opennx ) is available from :-
http://web.archive.org/web/20130509012539/http://www.nomachine.com/sources.php

Actually I'm going to bring this up again since the rpm download link that I posted is broken now. As in the previous email, the build from source succeeds, but when run the program looks for the nxssh executable in the install directory and doesn't find it. Basically, the question is, where can I get the nxssh executable? And if I get it, how do I tell opennx where to find it? Additionally, it seems that opennx is not in the Centos 6 extras repository anymore, I've posted on the Centos 6 forum about this, but at the moment it seems like the install options for this on Centos are not so good. Thanks! Hi, Actually, I think I just figured this out for myself, the solution was to download the Centos 6 RPM from here: http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/4/idpl/20337936/dir/centos_6/com/opennx-0.16-724.el6.centos.1.x86_64.rpm.html It seemed to work with no problems. Thanks! Hi, I've installed OpenNX on a Fedora machine and it's really great! Thanks for maintaining this! I'm currently trying to install on a Centos 7 machine, but apparently this is not in the repository. I tried building from source, once the build and install steps completed, and I had the opennx executable on my path. However, when I tried to connect, I got an error message: execvp(/home/cylu/Downloads/opennx-0.16/bin/nxssh, -nx, -x ... ) failed with error 2! I understand that it is looking for an nxssh executable, and that probably it shouldn't be looking in the source directory for this, but I don't seem to have this executable anywhere, and I'm unclear on where to get it. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks in advance! C. Clauson |

Hi.I want to install opennx on my Linux Mint 17 (Ubuntu 14.04) machine.I could not find a binary on the opennx download page so I thought of building from source.I did the usual
1) ./configure 2) makeBut I get error when I make.AsyncProcess.cpp: In member function ‘bool AsyncProcess::Print(const wxString&, bool)’:
AsyncProcess.cpp:211:61: error: cannot pass objects of non-trivially-copyable type ‘const class wxString’ through ‘...’
::myLogTrace(MYTRACETAG, wxT("Sending: '%s'"), s.c_str());
^
AsyncProcess.cpp: In member function ‘bool AsyncProcess::Start()’:
AsyncProcess.cpp:252:70: error: cannot pass objects of non-trivially-copyable type ‘class wxCStrData’ through ‘...’
::myLogTrace(MYTRACETAG, wxT("Starting '%s'"), m_sCmd.c_str());
^
AsyncProcess.cpp:265:24: warning: ‘wxThreadError wxThreadHelper::Create(unsigned int)’ is deprecated (declared at /usr/include/wx-3.0/wx/thread.h:760) [-Wdeprecated-declarations]
Create();
^
I can provide my config.log if it contains any clues to what is wrong.
I searched for this error on Google. Most people get this error when they pass a string to ellipsis and forget to use "c_str()". But this is clearly not the case here. So I was not able to debug myself. Please help me build this.
Thanks and regards,Amit

Could someone give me a quick run-down on getting this to compile under Ubuntu? In particular, what are the dependencies? I have done ./configure, with the following error: checking for wx-config... no configure: error: Could not find wxWidgets library but I am not able to find a wx-config package. Once I get that straightened out, do I just need to do ./configure, make, sudo make install? Second question - is there any reason this 2 year old patch is not included in the patches directory? Is there any reason I shouldn't use it? http://sourceforge.net/p/opennx/bugs/53/ Thanks/ DA. |

When applied, the above patch will allow opennx to use vcxsrv. This
prevents issue when running x2go from the same window box.
I still can not get the full project to build. I have a work around that
allows me to work for now.
I need to document the patches so I will have a full write up when I get a
chance.
for now, If it put the pulse header files in the package path. I can make
opennx.exe and tracelog.exe.

First, Great job on OpenNX. Second, I've been using OpenNX for the last two years. My boss has asked me to update a few thing for his taste. I'm having a hard time getting opennx.729 to build on the MinGW Developer Environment-5.1.14.3. pulseaudio is requiring a lot of tooling updates. I tend to work on current Linux systems so I’ve never had to fix a tool chain. This is also the first time in 15 years I've need to build anything for window. I need a little help setting up a cross compile environment setup. I'm happy to run Linux or windows 7, but my target is Window 7 32/64. In the past, someone talked about a Fadora setup with wine, wxWidgets and inno setup. I'm going to setup and document a vm for just this cross compile. . Thank you for your time Nicholas.A.Schembri Pittsburgh PA, USA. |

Hello, Hopefully this is the right mailing list! I'm having a having problem with the OpenNX client running on a 64bit Windows 7 machine. I'm able to log in successfully under one profile, named "Jake". But when I go into another local profile, named "John", it won't connect using the same settings. It just sits there waiting to establish a connection. I have absolutely no idea where to start. Thank you for your help and time! Pamela |

Yup but the client port is dictated by the server so you need to set (in node.conf on the servers) each of the servers to which you want a simultanous connection to each choose a unique port by setting different ranges for display base #DISPLAY_BASE=1000 DISPLAY_BASE=n-unique-to-this-server see http://lists.kde.org/?l=freenx-knx&m=120888974801937&w=2 > > thanks a lot. u r welcome let us know how you get on |

Hi, i use opennx 0.16.0.725 on windows 7 ultimate 32bit. i've installed freenx 0.7.3 with NX 3.5.0 on three linux server. i use UNIX-KDE connection. i can successful access all server, but only one at a time. if i access the second server , while connection to the first is still open, i got the following error message: Error: Call to bind failed for font TCP port 11000. Error is 112 'Adress already in use'. i guess the port 11000 on client side is in use by the first connection. is it possible to use another port for the second connections, or to deactivate font-port? thanks a lot. |

I forgot one thing. The DEFAULTS of Nomachine client are indeed incompatible with Nomachine server version-3. You have to switch from NX protocol (port 4000) to ssh protocol (port 22) and then go to "Advanced" and switch there from system login to Nomachine login. -- Sergey On 2/12/2014 9:07 AM, Steve wrote: > I'm running Mint 14 Cinnamon at home. > > I would like to use my desktop at work, which is running RHEL 5.1 with > NoMachine version 3.*. > > I am told NoMachine version 4 is incompatible with version 3, and > version 3 seems to be unavailable.
