Actually, you can control this quite nicely in threshd- 
configuration.xml.  Just make separate packages that include the  
nodes you configured the new thresholds.  Say you have a specific  
server 10.1.1.1: and you put the new thresholds in thresholds.xml in  
a separate thresholding group called "my-new-thresholds":



<package name="myCustomThresholds">
   <filter>IPADDR IPLIKE *.*.*.*</filter>
   <specific>10.1.1.1</specific>
   <service name="SNMP" interval="300000" user-defined="false"  
status="on">
     <parameter key="thresholding-group" value="my-new-thresholds"/>
   </service>
   <outage-calendar>zzz from poll-outages.xml zzz</outage-calendar>
</package>
