We hope that OpenNLP will now be able to act as a forum of sorts for people working on natural language software from a variety of perspectives and language (both natural and computer). While I'm not going to pursue and advertise this, please feel welcome to add in your two cents on thoughts about how to structure such an effort, or tell us about your project. In addition to promoting the creation of open source natural language software, it could be a useful resource just to help people keep informed on what is out there and to not keep reinventing the wheel.
Of course the Java API for natural language components will continue to be developed, but that is to be seen as only one part of the role of the OpenNLP project.
