#100 VIC Doesn't Hear Packets from LocalHost
On Windows 98 (possibly also on 95/ME?), VIC does not respond to packets coming from localhost, the local loop back interface. VIC does send packets successfully to localhost, and on Windows 2000 it properly responds to and sends packets to and from localhost.
A fix to this is needed for VIC to properly integrate with PRIVARIA, a new open-source secure networking suite that has been downloaded over 2700 times (!) in the first week of its release. When it works (as it does already under Win2K), PRIVARIA automatically establishes bidirectional UDP tunnels between the loopback interface and VIC on each of two computers for a secure unicast video session.
The bug can be confirmed by running two instances of VIC as follows:
#1 vic localhost/5800:5810
#2 vic localhost/5810:5800
Transmit the test pattern from one instance and live video from the other. Under Windows 2000 you will see the test pattern and video properly passing through a loop back interface from one instance of it to the other. Under Windows 98, the two instances will not recognize each other.
