#1 Cheops-ng and Nagios for ideas??

I see openmapper as a tool with great potential..
especially as it is written in python allowing for even
greater portability and rapid development.. some tool's
features I'd like to see added to openMapper are Nagios
and cheops-ng (url's listed below) Has a goal document
of feature list document been put together yet? Maybe
worth while putting one together and posting it for
feedback and voting on requested features...

    I've looked at these systems, and they seem to do what they
    do quite well. What I'm trying to do is somewhat different.
    My goal document is simple:

    Clone darware.com's intermapper, remaining as flexible and
    modular as possible, allowing users to easily script things
    like outage responses, custom tests, and custom notifications.

    Are there key features of these systems which you are
    looking for?
