I am starting first step towards using OpenLTE. And according to the instructions in "Installing OpenLTE <https://sourceforge.net/p/openlte/wiki/Installing%20OpenLTE/>", Installing GNURadio with UHD:, getting ready to install and build the gnuradio, as the first step. I was wondering if I need to perform a separate step for the Ettus radio X300, to get the UHD driver code - https://github.com/EttusResearch/uhd - and build it ? Or the gnuradio build pulls in the required code and/or dependencies? Looking forward working with you and to contribute to this project Thanks |

Regarding PRACH processing, I never tuned the receive signal time alignment to have a zero PRACH offset. This leads to your observation of non-zero timing advance values. If you would like to tune this, you should take a look at LTE_fdd_enb_radio.cc where rx_synced is set to true. The reason that the eNodeB still functions correctly is that the timing of the received samples is aligned by the timing advance value. In this case, the timing advance does not indicate propagation delay, but rather processing/buffering delay in the eNodeB receiver. One other note, there is non-zero chance that the eNodeB will detect a PRACH when there is no actual PRACH present. These will have random timing advance values and are safe to disregard. I use openlte as a enodeb and try to connect my mobile phone to it. My aim is measuring the parameter "timing advance" of my phone. This parameter is estimated via PRACH channel using the function "liblte_phy_detect_prach". Timing advance has direct relation with delay of received signal. In my tests, the phone is very near to usrp (with distance about 20 cm) an so it is expected that the timing advance to be zero. But, non-zero values are reported by "liblte_phy_detect_prach" function such as "9" or "17". These results are not valid. I tried to find the reason of this fact. I saved the inputs "samps_re" and "samps_im" for the subframe containig PRACH. It is seen that some initial elements of these signals are about zero (are noise values) and the PRACH samples are not lied at the first entries. For exmaple, the PRACH samples are observed in elemenst index 61,62,63,... and the elemenst 0,1,2,...,60 are near to zero. This observations means that the first sample on rx_buffer has not been aligned with the first sample of PRACH. In other words, the receiver of usrp saves the received samples in the corresponding buffer earlier than the reception of PRACH. I was trying to find where OpenLTE was determining which EMM Cause Code to send to the UE device. I found something inside of liblte_rrc.h on lines 5997-6000 where if I set those equal to which ever cause code I was trying to send to the UE, I was able to see that in a debug print out. The debugging I added in was in liblte_rrc.cc on the function 'LIBLTE_ERROR_ENUM liblte_rrc_pack_rrc_connection_release_msg'. I added the line 'printf('Release Cause: %i \n', con_release->release_cause)' to print the cause code being sent to the UE. (So I assume anyways)When I modified the liblte_rrc.h as mentioned above, I was able to see the change in the printed debug line I added in liblte_rrc.cc. The only thing is that I did not see any difference in the behavior of the UE. No matter which Cause Code I changed it to, the UE always acted the same. I even tried some of the cause codes that were supposed to make the UE modem temporarily stop working (Code 12, etc). The UE I am using is a COTS Samsung Galaxy S7.Any ideas? All, Version 00.20.04 is available. This version added band 26, 27, and 28 support (thanks to Jeremy Quirke), fixed the length skipping in liblte_mme_unpack_pdn_address_ie (thanks to Przemek Bereski), and fixed the turbo encoder tail bits (thanks to Laurent Louf and Jeremy Quirke) in the LTE library and fixed the handling of multiple RLC AMD PDUs throughout. Hi Jarek, USRP B200/B210 and bladeRF are currently supported when using the eNodeB. USRP B/N/X varieties, bladeRF, hackRF, UmTRX, and RTL-SDR are supported by the other applications. If you plan on doing eNodeB testing, I have done the most testing with a USRP B200. Akib, This issue usually happens when MAC is not able to keep up with the 1ms subframe timing of the PHY. I have worked around this by reducing the bandwidth to 5MHz and setting turning off CPU frequency scaling (cpufreq-set on linux). Akib, It appears that the attach process completed successfully in the log that you sent. However, just after attach complete is received and EMM information is sent, it appears that everything just stops. It looks like you have the MAC level debug logs shut off. Can you enable this, retest, and send a new log? Akib, There is currently no paging support in openLTE. Due to the way the NAT is constructed, it is impractical for a UE to receive data without first doing a downlink procedure. Akib, Please take a look at the debug information that is present on port 30001. For decoding PCAP files, you will need to install wireshark and setup the proper DLT for the mac-lte-framed dissector. Hello, First of all thanks for your kind words about the project! Regarding PRACH processing, I never tuned the receive signal time alignment to have a zero PRACH offset. This leads to your observation of non-zero timing advance values. If you would like to tune this, you should take a look at LTE_fdd_enb_radio.cc where rx_synced is set to true. The reason that the eNodeB still functions correctly is that the timing of the received samples is aligned by the timing advance value. In this case, the timing advance does not indicate propagation delay, but rather processing/buffering delay in the eNodeB receiver. One other note, there is non-zero chance that the eNodeB will detect a PRACH when there is no actual PRACH present. These will have random timing advance values and are safe to disregard. Carry, It looks like your machine that has less processing power is not able to keep up with the necessary processing for the eNodeB. When this happens, a discontinuity is present in the RF signal. This can lead to spectral content beyond the intended bandwidth. Hi all, I'm looking to move beyond my RTL-SDR experiments and get started with OpenLTE. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a <$1k hardware solution to get a basic cell site up and running for prototyping? I was looking at the LimeSDR, but have heard about B2X0 hardware being mentioned... wondering if anyone has some tips :) Best, Jarek |
