This is the kind of information we're trying to collect, I think. So if you were doing this in real life you would have applied _lots_ of tweaks by now, just to be able to see what you're doing, right? I'll look into that and have a look where the problem is. As a workaround I have added the file to the repository, and it can be downloaded from https://github.com/openlilylib/engraving-challenges/blob/phil-sib-music-entry/challenge01/Sibelius-7/phil/chopin-godowsky-sibelius-phil.pdf Urs |

Right. I clicked "Layout... Optimize" and it pushed staves all over the place. It seems that its default and optimzed layouts are both, in the English vernacular, pants. > It seems the attachment was stripped by the mailing list software. > I'll look into that and have a look where the problem is. > > As a workaround I have added the file to the repository, and it can be > downloaded from > https://github.com/openlilylib/engraving-challenges/blob/phil-sib-music-entry/challenge01/Sibelius-7/phil/chopin-godowsky-sibelius-phil.pdf When I get something else worth looking at, I'll push it to my repo. -- Phil Holmes |

Well, please also add the versions of the document file so other Sibelius users can retrace it. But we _should_ have a way to exchange images. I found the settings in the mailing list that defines MIME type filters. It seems that now .pdf, .png and .jpg files can be exchanged, but it seems I can't do anything about the size limit of 40 KB. Ok, I have Mozart's approximation to challenge 1, in the form of a JPEG file. All I have to do is work out what this GitHub thing is all about, so I can upload it! It's getting late here so tomorrow will have to do. [Mozart doesn't really do 'snippets' so I created a piano piece in C and 4/4, entered a dummy bar followed by a hard page break, and then the page of music which is challenge 1. Rather than convert the whole thing including the junk at the start to a PDF file, it's simpler just to export page 2 as a JPEG. Hope that's OK.] Dave David Webber Mozart Music Software http://www.mozart.co.uk/ |

In practice I've found that jpegs exported from Mozart at printer resolution are really quite acceptable. But I can save GIF or PNG if it worries you. I'll see what I can do with PDF too. (But first I have to master GITHUB, and from some of the messages here - it doesn't look that straightforward.) Dave |

If it's 300 dpi, it's definitely not enough to show some fine engraving details. If it's 1200 dpi, the files would be way too big. And 600 dpi doesn't seem a good compromise... j -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... |
