Big Update - Make Sure To Read This!!

The code on SourceForge is out-of-date and not being used. It should've been deleted a while ago but was kept as reference. It'll be moved to an archive soon. The reason we're not using that code is because dotCOM has been working with the team over at OpenGameEngine (OGE - http://www.opengameengine.org\), who is developing, and almost finished with, a complete game engine, linking all necessary components - graphics, sound, networking, etc. The code that is on SF is our previous programmer's attempt at creating an engine and bringing everything together. The code isn't that advanced, could use a lot of work, and overall would take more time to create than it would to just use OGE.... read more

Another quick update

--We're now NOT merging with OpenFRAG - they decided to pull YAKE and go in another direction. With that, we've switched back to the previous version we had. I'm (dotCOM) still the Lead Programmer -- current work is trying to optimize the code we HAVE and figure out what we do and don't need, and bringing it together into something more complete.

General Update

A lot has changed since the last news article...
-- dotCOM is the new Lead Programmer, Blackhole left in June.
-- We are merging code bases with OpenFrag (openfrag.org), which is based on YAKE (yake.org), a simple engine framework.
-- The repository was migrated from CVS to SVN.
-- OpenGameForge.org is a new game development community site, it started as a subproject to replace the role of The Lancers Reactor as a "host" community for development manpower. Now its expanding with OGF2.0 and aims to form an open source game development foundation.
-- Our game engine is being split into a series of semi-independent middleware projects.... read more

Starblazer Developer's Release

The developing codebase for everyone working on the Starblazer openlancer release has been uploaded. Since this is a developer release and not a general release, it is not listed on teh download page. You will need to select "show all files", navigate to the "Developer Releases" package, and choose the correct file from the Starblazer release group.

OLsetup.msi - binaries only, use this if you want to test openlancer

Patriot Completed

The private source release "patriot" has been declared completed and work has begun on the "starblazer" public source release. Mailing lists for people wanting to be Alpha Testers and for the openlancer programmers have been created, use the links below to sign-up for them.

Patriot and its predecesor, starflier, has been uplaoded to the downloads page and may now be downloaded. Openlancer is not yet playable and will only become playable with the release of Bloodhound.

Openlancer Project Launched

The Openlancer project has launched and created its SourceForge.net project page. The forum up and functioning, availible at http://forums.openlancer.com, and a wiki powered by MediaWiki is being installed.

In light of recent setbacks the game engine will begin priliminary construction without the framework. Programmers are welcome to assist in the endevour.
