Hi,
I downloaded NWNUpdater .99.3, and used it to do a fresh upgrade/install of SoU and HotU. When the software gets to the file dialog.tlk it says the install has failed, and stops. Is there a way to figure out why NWNUpdater is not happy? I tried the install again with .99.2(RC2) without removing any files from my hard disk and it tells me that HotU has been installed.
Thanks,
Jason Mazzotta

My install fails when it tries to install a file called
xp2patch.
Tried 5 times, got 5 failures. Girlfriend tried on her computer, failed 3 times. Never gets past this file. Running NWN 1.61, NWNUpdater pre1.0 on a dual 1 gig Quicksilver G4 with 1.5 gigs of ram. Mac OS X 10.2.8

Same problem here. I am running OSX 10.2.8 on a 800mhz G4 with 1 gig. I used pre1.0 - and HOTU "install failed" Tried it 3 times - 3 failures. Seems like its chuggin right along but then at that same file "dialog.tlk" every time it balks.

Can't seem to install HotU with NWNUpdater pre1.0 on a G3 iMac, MacOSX 10.3.3. It aks to download a related updater, then even after this succeeds, does nothing. (just sits with the progress bar full and does not go on). Help?!

Alan, I would suggest using version 0.99.4 instead. I've had several reports of people having problems with the 1.0 Internal version (I don't think it was intended for public consumption).
Most people seem to be able to successfully install with 0.99.4. The only caveat is to install and patch NWN + SoU first, then install and patch HotU.
Hope that helps!

I haven't personally tried that combination, but it should work. I'd patch NWN to the latest version before installing/patching HotU.
You can use HotU without SoU, though it does include a lot of content that HotU doesn't have; also, most online servers seem to require both expansions these days. Also, the HotU single-player campaign picks up where the SoU campaign left off. So, no you don't need it, but you may want to pick it up anyway.

reading all of the previous queries - i just want to confirm that the updaters we're talking about are the Pc versions ?
i know the updater will seek out the relevant ones but i'd prefer to use speed download to get the SoU & HotU updates if possible as i've only a lowly dial up 56k connection
your wise words would be appreciated

Hmm, we bought HotU but not SoU. Is SoU needed to run HotU, or can we proceed directly to the latter?

Yes, the expansions referred to in the above discussion were the PC versions. The NWN update files would be the Mac or Linux ones as appropriate.
