Just wanting to have a look at this software as it seems to be what I have been looking for for a number of purposes. I'm installing on Fedora21. I noticed that the release notes and readme file contradict each other about requirement of JMF.
The problem I have is after installing and attempting to run the software:
[alan@hphost1-localdomain bin]$ . ./jean.sh
INFO>> set JEANDirectory to /home/alan/Software/jinstall
OpenJDK Server VM warning: You have loaded library /home/alan/Software/jinstall/systemlib/libtray.so which might have disabled stack guard. The VM will try to fix the stack guard now.
It's highly recommended that you fix the library with 'execstack -c <libfile>', or link it with '-z noexecstack'.

Hi
Thanks for your interest in openjean. The version on sourceforge is now very old. I have been doing a total rewrite as a web based service, which has taken a lot longer than anticipated! I do not currently have an old version running since my last server went under, but I will download one and find a vanilla machine to set it up on to try and help you.
JMF was the original mechanism for producing audio, which got replaced by use of external programs such as vlc or mplayer, so in that sense it is no longer necessary. However I do seem to remember that the installer was not happy if the jar file was missing, hence the ambiguity.
I am hoping to get the new version out this calendar year, but the underlying database will be different. If required I will be able to provide a tool to convert from an old-style database to a new one.
Mike

Thanks for your help. And the web version is happily anticipated. Hope I
can be of assistance in the future. Alan
