Update. The build is based on the build of the freebsd handbook, which has since switched to using DocBook V5 https://svnweb.freebsd.org/doc/release/11.1.0/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/book.xml?view=markup So I am attempting to make the build use DocBook5 instead of the older version आलोक 2017-11-25 14:09 GMT+05:30 Alok Kumar | आलोक कुमार < alo...@us...>: > Hello list > > I'm trying to run the build for a documentation project (listed at > https://sourceforge.net/p/indic-computing/code/HEAD/tree/doc/trunk/) and > I get the following output when running make. > > The openjade version I have is 1.3.3-prel and OpenSP version is 1.5.2 > This is being run on FreeBSD 11.1-RELEASE. > > > It appears that the stylesheet mentioned in https://sourceforge.net/p/ > indic-computing/code/HEAD/tree/doc/trunk/share/sgml/indic-computing.dsl > is not locatable. Hello list I'm trying to run the build for a documentation project (listed at https://sourceforge.net/p/indic-computing/code/HEAD/tree/doc/trunk/) and I get the following output when running make. The openjade version I have is 1.3.3-prel and OpenSP version is 1.5.2 This is being run on FreeBSD 11.1-RELEASE. It appears that the stylesheet mentioned in https://sourceforge.net/p/indic-computing/code/HEAD/tree/doc/trunk/share/sgml/indic-computing.dsl is not locatable. However it must be a pretty standard stylesheet so I am guessing that I need to download it from somewhere or include it in a path? Any help in this regard will be appreciated, many thanks in advance https://pastebin.com/raw/i54NLGw2 $ make Warning: Object directory not changed from original /usr/home/alok/code/doc/trunk ===> This time without attachment Hi there. I built the PostgreSQL doc set for HTML and PDF OK. I really wanted RTF. When I built, I stuck at 99% CPU for 20 mins (I wanted to give it enough time to work, these doc builds are long :-), and I had a zero size .rtf file. When I checked it out, I saw the attached in the PostgreSQL docs. It says "We think it's an OpenJade issue". I'd love to solve this for those good folks over at PostgreSQL. could you give me any pointers where to look, or what I might be doing wrong. The pdf in toto that I generated was like 2700 pages - pretty hefty. wanted to slice it up in RTF and this is when I hit the wall. Thanks in advance for your help on this Peter -- |

Hi!
We've been trying out attaching graphics to the output document, trying to replicate the sample files found on the net.
My objective is to include/show graphic in an rtf output after processing sgm and dsl files through openjade. The graphic file is a bmp (filename: image.bmp) located in the same directory as the sgm, dsl and necessary dtd files. There were no errors upon openjade parsing/processing.
The rtf output however upon opening with MSWord does not contain any graphic inside it. The rtf file is just empty, with its cursor at the center. Please refer to the codes below:
Command Line: -openjade -t rtf test.sgm
<!--================================================================================-->
<!-- test.sgm -->
<!--================================================================================-->
<!DOCTYPE graphic
[
<!NOTATION BMP PUBLIC "+//ISBN 0-7923-9432-1::Graphic Notation//NOTATION

))
</style-sheet>
Any comments / insights would be very much appreciated.
Thanks!

Ahoy, I'm using OpenSP 1.5.2 to convert sgml to xml. When I use --xml-output-option=no-expand-internal osx is doing something strange when entities are found in attribute values. It's expanding them and putting a copy of them, unexpanded, in front of the element. For example, from: <inter-ref locator="http://www.example.com/&f=foo–bar"> It's outputting: &–<INTER-REF LOCATOR="http://www.example.com/&f=foo–bar"> The duplication doesn't occur without that arg, but obviously the entities are then expanded which is still undesired for what I'm doing. Has anyone run into this? Know of a patch or workaround? Cheers, Paul |

This is indeed a usability issue, that comes from the underlying parser, opensp. I would love an option to filter out unknown attribute errors for an unknown element. I'd make it a default, actually: if <foo> is unknown, then of course for <foo bar="quz" ...> bar will be an unknown attribute and quz an illegal attribute value - but it's useless info. This may be more of a Docbook issue than an OpenJade issue. It appears to me
that indexterm marks a location in the text, and any output gets suppressed. I
think what you are supposed to do is create an indexentry element in an index
element that contains a primaryie element which has as its "linkends"
attribute the id of the indexterm. I haven't done this myself, I just got it
from reading DocBook - The Definitive Guide:
http://docbook.org/tdg/en/html/docbook.html, or in particular,
http://docbook.org/tdg/en/html/primaryie.html.

I have in my document:
<indexterm><primary>time zones</primary></indexterm>
I have openjade-1.3.2nb5 (nb5 means pkgsrc's fifth revision).
I run openjade like:
openjade -t tex -V tex-backend -V bop-footnotes -V %footnote-ulinks% \
-d /usr/pkg/share/sgml/docbook/dsssl/modular/print/docbook.dsl \
/usr/pkg/share/sgml/docbook/dsssl/modular/dtds/decls/xml.dcl book.xml
(By the way, where are these -V options documented?)
My resulting tex file something added:
\Node%
{\def\Element%
{559}}\Seq%
{}\endSeq{}\endNode{}
So where is my \index{time zones} entry?
Can someone please share the steps for doing indexing with openjade?
If I should be using a different tool for converting docbook to PDF or
docbook to TeX/LaTeX, please let me know. (I prefer not to use Java and I
use open source Unix systems.)
Thanks!

Thanks Phillip for your reply. I worked out what was going wrong. The sgml-lib was not being found due to how I had installed it. The instructions in http://validator.w3.org/docs/install_win.html were not exactly clear so I've posted a bug with a solution to see if it can be updated. See: http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=5682 Thanks again. Hi Steve, Are you aware that the W3C validator also comes with a catalog that you can install? It includes the common DTDs you're likely to run across and OpenSP will use the local catalog instead of downloading them. http://validator.w3.org/sgml-lib.tar.gz As referenced from here: http://validator.w3.org/docs/install.html HTH Philip > > The DTD I'm referencing is XHTML 1.0 Strict. > > I don't know how the code works but there seems to be some concept > of catalogs. > > I tried adding > PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" xhtml1-strict.dtd > to html.soc but this did nothing. I'm trying to install and use W3C Validator which uses OpenSP. OpenSP needs Internet access to download DTD's. Unfortunately I only have access to the Internet via a proxy and when OpenSP tries to retrieve DTD's it fails. This has been posted in the past with no solution. There is also a feature request which was added a year ago but is still unassigned. Does this mean that it's unlikely it will be actioned or this code has gone stale? I'm hoping someone has figured out a way around this. The DTD I'm referencing is XHTML 1.0 Strict. I don't know how the code works but there seems to be some concept of catalogs. I tried adding PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" xhtml1-strict.dtd to html.soc but this did nothing. I actually deleted this file and got the same result so it can't be referencing it. There is obviously more to it then just updating this catalog. Thanks for any help that is given. Cheers, Steve |

Further to the below question, I found the following link http://www.tei-c.org/Activities/MI/Tools/osp-releasenotes.html and tried to use the guidelines there. I downloaded the tar.gz wersion of opensp and saved a decompressed version on my hp-ux machine. Then I tried to run ./configure. I can see that the file exists in the current folder, but I still get the following error : interpreter "/usr/bin/sh" not found sh: ./configure: not found. I would appreciate if anyone could help me out with this. Thanks Nina On 8/10/07, Nina Small <nin...@gm...> wrote: > > Hi, > > I hope I am in the right place now. Hi, I hope I am in the right place now. I was trying for about 10 days to get some info on the devl list, no wander that people usually ignored my emails (with one exception though). :-) I just unsubscribed there, not to cause any more confusion. Anyway, my current problem is the following: I have to build HP-UX version of OpenSP. I already have installed all the GNU tools listed in the how to build section in the opensp documentation, but as I am new to all of these tools and HP-UX I have no idea how to do this. Does anyone have any step by step guidelines of how to build OpenSP from source on HP-UX? Thanks Nina |

Hi, I just would like to know if openjade has multithreading capabilities. If this would be the case, I could improve speed on multicore-systems. Does anyone knows something about openjade multithreading capabilities.? Steffen |

Setting LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 on SUSE Linux 10.0 let you see the German messages. -- http://www.gnu.franken.de/ke/ | ,__o | _-\_<, | (*)/'(*) Key fingerprint = F138 B28F B7ED E0AC 1AB4 AA7F C90A 35C3 E9D0 5D1C |

I don't recall such an option offhand, but here is the config command u=
sed:
./configure --prefix=3D/usr \
--enable-http --enable-shared --enable-static \
--enable-default-catalog=3D$(default-catalogs) \
--enable-default-search-path=3D$(default-sgml-path) \
--disable-dtddecl --enable-full-doc-build
What are the contents of your /etc/locale.gen file? Is there some othe=
r
variant german locale you can try? I am not too clear how the mapping =
is done
from locales on a machine to the locales OpenSP knows, so maybe some ot=
her
locale will work.

Hello, I'm looking at the possibility of using the localized messages in openSP, and after a bit of experimentation, I have a few questions - hope this is the proper place to ask them. Q1) Is there an authoritative list of supported languages anywhere? The sourceforge page [1] mentions English and German. The po files in the source have also French, Swedish, Japanese and Turkish. [1] http://sourceforge.net/projects/openjade/ Q2) Are locales the only way to trigger the usage of a localized version of openSP? (or is there an option to force it) Q3) I compiled (on mac osX) opensp 1.5.2, configured with --with- included-gettext as described in the README, made sure the gmo files were properly set up by make install. Yet changing my locales to e.g fr_FR.UTF-8 has no apparent effect. Anywhere I could look at to debug this issue? Q4) Is the debian package for opensp localized? It seems not. Neil, can you confirm? Thank you very much. -- olivier |

Hi, =20 Does anyone know if it is possible to preserve whitespace in files that are written by the parser? =20 e.g. taking a formatted and neatly indented sgml file, adding content to it, validating it and writing the changes back out, preserving the original indentation. =20 At the moment we are still using sp 1.3.4 =20 Regards, =20 Stuart |
