It is a web application. Did you install a web server? The language is PHP. So you need a web server with PHP support. XAMPP is a free and open-source cross-platform web server solution stack package developed by Apache Friends, consisting mainly of the Apache HTTP Server, MariaDB database, and interpreters for scripts written in the PHP and Perl programming languages Can you give us more information about what you have done, and what "doesn't work"? As we enter the fall of the year the Open ISES Project is very proud to announce a major upgrade in the Tickets Computer Aided Dispatch software project. This release is the culmination of many hours of work by our development team, and it is a release that brings into reality many of the most often asked for features for Tickets. Internet Access Now Optional Since the very beginning of the Tickets CAD Project, it has required the use of an Internet connection to access Google maps and other associated back-end databases. However, many users have expressed concerned that of their Internet connection is lost, their CAD system would go down as well. With this release, that is no longer a concern. You can now have Tickets constantly check for an Internet connection, and if it doesn't find one it will continue to operate, albeit without some of its features active. Now you no longer have to worry about losing your CAD if you lose the Internet. Mobile Unit Screen Another consistent theme with the Tickets CAD Project is that it was designed from a dispatcher's perspective. The screens were laid out in ways that made sense for the personnel who were dispatching and tracking units. With this release a new interface has been added, one for the mobile unit. This is a new feature and one that will be expanded over time. However, it does show that Tickets is growing in ways we never envisioned when the project first started. Multiple Languages The other major upgrade is that Tickets is no longer restricted to the English language only. Again, this is something that will be expanded in upcoming releases, but this release marks the first time that Tickets can display a language other than English on its screens. There's More! There is even more to this release that we haven't hit on here. There is an update to the installation program, customizations to account for various screen sizes and more. To read about all of the updates in this release, please visit the Tickets 2.12 Upgrade Page at http://openises.sourceforge.net/tickets_update_3.html. You can also download the latest version of Tickets at http://sourceforge.net/projects/openises/files/. Make sure you download the sound (yes sound!) files as well. The Open Information Systems for Emergency Services Project (The Open ISES Project) Like any open source project, we are always looking for individuals to join our community. If you are a developer looking for a worthy project, we believe that there is none better than the Open ISES Project. If you are an emergency service provider, who is willing to work with software developers, to help meet the needs of your community or your fellow providers, we believe that the Open ISES Project is the place to be. http://openises.sourceforge.net |

*Updates to the Open ISES Project* http://openises.sourceforge.net =============================================== *Tickets* Arnie and crew have released their latest update to the Tickets project. As usual, they have included a number of improvements, some of which include; - More reliable multi-user operation - This version includes the (minor) changes needed for operation with Asterisk, the Open Source PBX. - Notification of new incidents, unit status change, and unit movement via 'lit-up' buttons - Dispatching a unit no longer needs the 'multi' workaround - The situation screen reports the number of units assigned each incident. + Open (un-dispatched-to) incidents blink the count value. + Closed tickets my be selected by time frame and full details are shown for these. This is just a sample of the improvements. This version of Tickets is available in both a full install version and an update patch for existing installations. Visit our Tickets Update Page ( http://openises.sourceforge.net/tickets_update_2.html) for all the updated information. ================================================= *ECG Review* The latest update in this series is for the ECG recognition exercises that can be used on a Learning Content Management System like Moodle. This update includes 20 patterns for the student to recognize without the use of an actual ECG strip. These have not yet been added to the workbook, but look for an update in the future that brings these two programs into sync. This version of the ECG Recognition Project is available in both SCORM format as well as the eXe source files. Get all the info on this project by visiting the ECG Recognition Project page at http://openises.sourceforge.net/training/medical/ecg_review.html ================================================= *Web Site Update* We have been having some struggles keeping everything up and running lately as our web host provider is making updates to their system. First there was the problem with the broken links for downloadable materials (which was fixed a couple of weeks ago) and more recently, the educational component of the web site went down. We now have it back up and running. If you find anything that doesn't work (like a link or a file), please let us know so that we can correct it. Thanks, and enjoy the latest updates! *The Open ISES Project Team* |

*Tickets 2.11.E Released* A new update to the Tickets CAD Program has been released. The latest version, 2.11.E, includes a number of enhancements. As before, two downloads are available - a Full Installation and an Update Patch. Go to our Update Page for more information. http://openises.sourceforge.net/tickets_update_2.html * Problems with Educational Downloads Corrected* We recently became aware that a significant number of our educational downloads resulted in a Page Not Found error. This was due to some changes made by our educational hosting provider to offer better services, but also resulted in some broken links. Those errors have been corrected. We apologize for frustration this may have caused. |

“Call and Pump” Web-based Training Program Now Available The Open ISES Project (http://openises.sourceforge.net) is very proud to announce its latest offering. “Call and Pump” is a web-based training program for the general population (http://emstraining.eduforge.org/medical/public_trng.html) and is the first offering in the Open ISES Project's public training section. As the focus of citizen CPR turns more towards compression only CPR, this training program can help meet that need. This training project comes from our friends with the Call and Pump project (http://www.callandpump.org) in Wisconsin. The training program uses a series of slides to explain the concept behind Call and Pump and why the compression only form of CPR is effective. It also includes two videos embedded into the training program. This is a professionally created training program that can be used as a stand-alone program or as part of a Learning Content Management System such as Moodle (http://moodle.org). Like all of our offerings, this training program is released as a free and open source project. We want to invite you to stop by the Open ISES Project and view our other offerings. We have several training projects directed towards both the Advanced Life Support and Basic Life Support provider (http://emstraining.eduforge.org/medical/index.html). In addition we invite you to review our open source, web-based Computer Aided Dispatch program called Tickets (http://openises.sourceforge.net/tickets01.html). Like any open source project, we are always looking for individuals to join our community. If you are a developer looking for a worthy project, we believe that there is none better than the Open ISES Project. If you are an emergency service provider, who wants to work with other software developers, we can use your help. If you are an instructor and are willing to create training programs that can be used to help meet the needs of your community or your fellow providers, we believe that the Open ISES Project is the place to be. Today a feature article on Tickets has just been posted over at EMSResponder.com. The article was written by James Careless and discusses the use of Tickets and who can benefit from its use. We want to thank Mr. Careless for doing such a nice job of capturing the spirit of Tickets and getting Tickets (and the Open ISES Project) in the spotlight of a group of folks who may have never heard of the project. The latest update to the Tickets CAD program has been released. Here are some of the changes for this version; 1. A significantly improved multi-user capability: Buttons in the top panel are 'lit' when an event occurs that merits user attention. Specifically, a new incident written by another user will light up the situation button in red; A unit movement will light up that button in blue; a chat invitation will light up the chat button in red. Lit buttons remain so until clicked, with a red situation button taking precedence over the blue color used to signify Unit movement. Given such notification, the screen refresh is no longer needed, and this function - which can be disruptive - has been removed. 2. The situation screen is more informative, and has improved handling for sites with a larger number of units. The list is now fitted to the screen, with a scrollbar available to navigate the list. In addition, email to all or selected units is supported on the situation screen, thus saving a number of steps. Mouseover assigned units displays target incident information, and Mouseover incidents displays incident address data. 3. The full-screen operation has a revised layout, with an expanded map portion and more intuitive yet reduced overhead space. 4. This version now accommodates IPV6, the upcoming Internet addressing standard. 5. The Chat function is much improved, supporting chat invites and with the above-noted button light-up as notification of an invitation you've received. You may send invitations to all or to a selected user. 6. The Configuration screen adds information re users, including identification of those currently logged-in. 7. We've revised the 'new Unit' form to help ensure that for tracked units - APRS, Instamapper, etc. - the correct identification key is entered. We currently only have the upgrade patch available. We hope to have a full install available soon. Get more information at http://openises.sourceforge.net/tickets_update_2.html |

A real quick announcement. The Open ISES Wiki has been updated with a brand new Tickets tutorial. This tutorial will take you step-by-step through the process of installing the Tickets software package. The tutorial is also available as a downloadable Adobe Acrobat (pdf) file. This tutorial is the first of what should be a series of tutorials on installing, setting-up and running the Tickets CAD program. |

Last month the Open ISES (Open Information Systems for Emergency Services) Project announced a major update to their flagship project, the Tickets CAD program. The latest update is labeled as Version 2.11.C Some of the updates in this release include; * On new calls, the entered phone number may be looked up for prior calls. If found, the most recent name and location information is copied into the new form. * Unit status may be updated directly from the situation screen, saving a number of navigation clicks. * Directions may now be turned off/on temporarily for routes/dispatch. * To assist in rapid dispatch, the incident address is shown highlighted and floating on the dispatch page. * We've made a number of other corrections as well as performance and aesthetic improvements. E.g., the full screen page now works, Google Latitude accommodates ID's with or without the hyphen, and there's better handling of floating buttons for IE users. Like before, Tickets 2.11.C is available in two different packages; * A complete installation package for new installs * An update package for existing installations More information on Tickets can be found at http://openises.sourceforge.net/tickets_update_2.html. Tickets is part of the Open ISES Project at http://openises.sourceforge.net. |

The Open ISES (Information Systems for Emergency Services) Project is proud to announce the latest release of flagship software product, Tickets Version 2.11. Tickets is a web-based computer aided dispatch (CAD) program that leverages the power of Google maps to bring a high end open source CAD product to the emergency services community. Tickets can perform a number of functions including phone number look-up, driving directions, schedule events, and more. One new feature allows you to set up facilities such as hospitals and clinics, and provide driving directions between facilities. This can be useful when tracking an ambulance to an incident, and then from the incident to the hospital. Other uses are for setting up dispatching for special events. The facilities function can be used to locate First Aid Stations and allow easy dispatching of units to the stations. There are more new features such as; * Email Route Directions to Unit * Hide Units When Unavailable * Scheduled Incidents * Additional callboard features include mileage record per run, expanded comments field and a new listing screen which shows additional details about incidents and responses. * Frequent Service Users * Full Screen Pop-up feature allows you to bring up a map of the area in a full screen. We also have two downloads available. One is a complete install for new installations (you willneed to set up a web server with PHP and MySQL). The other is an update patch for those already running a copy of Tickets. For more information on this major update, visit our Tickets 2.11 page at http://openises.sourceforge.net/tickets_update_2.html. ======================================================== Tickets is open source and free of charge (as are all of the software products at the Open ISES Project). It utilizes the MySQL database and is written primarily in PHP. In addition to software we also offer training materials for EMS, leadership and emergency management. To find out more, please visit our web site at http://openises.sourceforge.net. The Tickets project can be found at http://openises.sourceforge.net/tickets01.html. |

Tickets Patch 9-01-09 03 September 2009 Tickets update patch is now available for download. This corrects two PHP version dependencies that existed in its predecessor, patch_08_22.zip. This patch is not for everyone. If you are using Tickets 2.10.G and you are not having any problems, there is no need to install this patch. If your are using version 2.10.G and are getting an error report of "...xxx is deprecated ...' then you need this patch set. If you're not running Tickets Version 2.10.G then you are definitely encouraged to install this patch. http://sourceforge.net/projects/openises/files/Tickets/Tickets% 202.10_e/patch_09_01.zip/download |

Tickets Keeps Communications Up During Southern California Fires 03 September 2009 Ari Friedman is the Dispatch Coordinator of Hatzolah of Los Angeles. He wrote to let us know that Tickets was instrumental in keeping their operation up and running during the recent fires in Southern California. Despite being 20+ miles away from the fires their repeater is on a mountain top there. Yesterday the fires brought their main repeater down. They used the "email all units" feature to advise all their units to switch over to their backup communications system. According to Ari, "We have close to 80 units and without Tickets it would have been harder and a much more painful process. My organization is operating as normal." Words of thanks go out to Arnie and Andy and their continued good work with Tickets. |

This patch set is to be applied to a good installation of Tickets 2.10.E beta or more recent, and will upgrade that to version 2.10.G Credit for a MAJOR chunk of the improvements here is due to our UK buddy, Andy Harvey, a needed and welcome addition to our development team. Andy brings tech chops as well as emergency support experience to Tickets development. Changes for Tickets V 2.10.G: 1. Google Latitude, LocateA and Gtrack have been added as tracking devices/services. Setting for Gtrack URL is on the configuration page. 2. There is a new entry on the units page to allow use of "Handle" IAW user convention. 3. Test screens have been added which allow testing of the three additional tracking services, accessible from the configuration page. 4. Setting for default Map Type (maptype) allows you to set whether the default view for the Google Map element is standard Roadmap, Satellite Map, Terrain Map or Hybrid. 5. Setting for locale added to configuration settings to allow for the options 0=US, 1=UK, 2=ROW. This determines whether US National Grid, Ordnance Survey National Grid for the UK or UTM grid references are shown. 6. Hiding/showing units on situation display as well as by specific incident priorities is now provided. 7. User-defined function buttons have now been added, with these appearing when set on the top menu screen. 8. Per suggestion, and to add convenience in adding text to incident synopsis and disposition, we've added links to do so. 9. Incident type attributes has been expanded to allow adding a circle around the incident location. Good morning everyone, The latest update (2.10.F) to Tickets is now available; http://sourceforge.net/projects/openises/files/Tickets/Tickets% 202.10_e/tickets_2_10_f_update.zip/download This is an update to the earlier release of Tickets, however, it is NOT a FULL installation. You must have version 2.10.E installed. If you do not currently have 2.10.E installed it can be downloaded at the following address; http://sourceforge.net/projects/openises/files/Tickets/Tickets% 202.10_e/tickets_2_10_e_beta.zip/download Additionally, you will likely receive an error message after log-in if you are not using version 5 of PHP. If you run into this error, check with your ISP or your own installation of PHP and see if you can't upgrade the version of PHP that is currently running. Future versions of Tickets will be taking advantage of the additional capabilities available in PHP 5, so now is the time to work on this upgrade. The latest version of PHP can be found at http://www.php.net/downloads.php Installation: Version 2.10.F includes all of the prior patch set, so it's comprehensive; It's the only file that needs to be added to the base 2.10.E installation to bring that up to subject version. (While I'm keeping 05_03.zip available on-line, that's still there only in the case of a fall back to the prior version.) Changes for Tickets V 2.10 F 89. The situation display has been improved to provide more information. A new pop-up feature will open a window on the selected incident, with assigned units also shown. Mobile units are distinguished from fixed ones by icon color, black/white. 90. You may now associate a 'protocol' with each incident type. The protocol may be whatever category of information your operation finds useful. It may be the response protocol in, say, vehicle types and manning or specialties, or else the treatment protocol. 91. Mail functions have been significantly improved; (a) mail to all/selected users - 'members' is now available on the Config screen. (b) Mail to all/selected response units is now available on the Units screen. (c) A new settings item, email from, is available. (d) SMTP mail connection is now supported, with a test function to assist in getting the connection parameters correct. See the new configuration/settings value of 'smtp acct'. Once you have a satisfactory test operation, enter data in a fwd-slash delimited string consisting of the smtp account, the port number, the user account (on that server), and the password. Your ISP may or may not require a fifth item, a 'from' string. (The following example does NOT show this latter item.) outgoing.verizon.net/123/ashore999/whatever 92. For those of you implementing the Instamapper interface, the Configuration page does have a test function available. |

Good afternoon everyone. Well a lot has been going on, and we wanted to bring everyone up to date. 3-Lead ECG Review Workbook ==================================================================== We are pleased to report that we have been able to reduce the size of the OpenDocument format version of the ECG Workbook. The original version was nearly 80MB in size, but we were able to get it reduced down to less 20MB. Links to both the PDF and ODT formats of the Student and Instructor Workbooks are available at http://emstraining.eduforge.org/medical/ecg_review.html New Web Site Pages ==================================================================== We have added a few new pages to the web site. One page deals with the Open ISES Project making news. This page is not news about the Open ISES project, but instead when the Open ISES Project is IN the news. Read about how the word of the project is getting out at http://openises.sourceforge.net/news.html The Open ISES Project to be featured on the Gutsy Geeks Radio Show ==================================================================== Bob Austin, the founder of The Open ISES Project has been invited to come and speak on the Gutsy Geeks radio program out of Phoenix, AZ. Gutsy Geeks (formerly PC Chat), which made its debut in August 2001, exists to educate, enlighten, and entertain listeners about Linux and Open Source. Their show is broadcast on 1100 KFNX on Saturdays at 2pm, as well as posting a podcast of the broadcast a day or two later. Bob's interview will be broadcast live in Phoenix on Saturday, June 27 at 2pm local time. Read more at http://openises.sourceforge.net/news.html Updates to Forum ==================================================================== We believe we now have the permissions set properly on the new forums. We are going to start posting updates here as well. If you want to discuss a project, please stop by and drop a line. http://apps.sourceforge.net/phpbb/openises/index.php New Wiki ==================================================================== We have moved to a new Wiki. No new information on the wiki yet, just a transfer of the information from the old one. If you have used Wikipedia you will find that this looks very familiar (same software package). If you would like to work on the wiki please let us know. http://apps.sourceforge.net/mediawiki/openises/index.php?title=Main_Page |

We have been able to upload the initial release of the 3-lead ECG Review Workbook, Student and Instructor versions. Currently the pdf version of the workbook is the only one available. The Acrobat version is under 2MB in size, while the OpenDocument version created with Open Office is over 70MB. We are going to be working on reducing the size of the OpenDocument file to a more reasonable level. This will most likely come about by reducing the size of the graphics, most notably the cover page and the ECG rhythm strips themselves. Let us know what you think of the workbook so far. We plan to add more information at a later time, basically expanding the workbook to cover a wide range of basic knowledge of ECGs that would typically be needed by the new paramedic student. Let us know what you think should be included, or tell us how you want to be involved in the on-going development of the workbook. We have also been working on a SCORM format of the workbook. This would allow the workbook to be uploaded to a Learning Content Management System (LCMS) such as Claroline or Moodle. More on this as we get closer to a release. You can find the workbook at the Emergency Services Training Site at http://emstraining.eduforge.org/medical/ecg_review.html |

As part of our on-going effort to update the Open ISES Project web site, we now have a new forum and Wiki set up. The Wiki is based on MediaWiki, which powers the ever popular Wikipedia. Hopefully this will make it easier for you to find information you need. The format of the wiki is similar to Wikipedia, and as we begin to expand the Open ISES wiki it should make it easier for you to find things. Visit the new wiki at http://apps.sourceforge.net/mediawiki/openises/index.php?title=Main_Page The forums is based on phpBB, a very popular open source forum. If you are used to visiting forums around the Internet you should find that the look and feel is familiar. We have areas set up for each Open ISES software and educational project, as well as for each type of emergency agency and your role in that agency. We have also set up a 'coffee house' where you can sit down and discuss most anything. You can find the new forums at http://apps.sourceforge.net/phpbb/openises/ Lastly, we want to thank the fine folks over at SourceForge for hosting these applications. It helps projects like Open ISES maintain the services you ask for. |

Tickets 2.10_e has been released, and it has a number of updates, including: 1. Fixes to a number of areas, notably for those who use the 'database prefix' option. (Those of you who've tried it will see that it now works.) 2. For GPS-equipped hand-helds/smartphones, an Instamapper interface has been added to support GPS position data from a number of devices, notably the blackberry. Support for this interface appears in Units information display. 3. Units for which driving directions to an incident would be inappropriate may now be so identified, and directions will not be generated. 4. Editing of generated email is now supported, for both email selected off the incident mini-menu and also upon dispatch. 5. Settings are available to allow default email contents, applicable to noted email and also for 'notify' on new and edited incidents. (See the full About ... file for full details.) 6. A 'quick' option setting has been added, which bypasses certain user notification in the interest of rapid operation. 7. A new settings entry - def zoom fixed - allows you to maintain a fixed map and zoom. Value 0 applies dynamic zoom (original), value 1 fixes in-place only the situation screen map, value 2 fixes only the units screen, and value 3 fixes both these screens. 8. A new settings entry allows you to set the time interval - in hours - during which closed incidents are visible in the Situation screen and cleared dispatches are visible on the Call Board. 9. Tickets now supports non-Western character sets, notably Chinese. ... and, a good number of odds and ends. This release DOES require a complete/fresh install. Contact Arnie if this is a problem for you. --------------------------------------------- |

While the Agency and Training Database project (http://agencydb.sourceforge.net) has been sitting dormant for a while, we are please to report that we have a new lead developer on the project. Clay Jackson comes to the Open ISES project with a long background in IT, including being a Database Administrator/Manager. He brings to the Open ISES project his experience with MySQL and Oracle, as well as a host of other skills. We can't thank Clay enough for coming in and picking up where Mike Harris left off. This project (as well as most of the Open ISES software projects) will be a web based program designed to use the *AMP stack. This will allow any computer system that is able to view a web page to use the program. The back-end database is intended to use MySQL, and the main development is being accomplished with PHP. The latest version of the Agency Database schema is now available for download. Development of a web based program has now begun. Read more about what is happening with the Agencies Database at our MySQL page (http://agencydb.sourceforge.net/mysql01.html). |

Access Database Prototypes The First Release in the Series The Open ISES Project (http://openises.sourceforge.net) is now offering for release the original Microsoft Access Database prototypes. These databases were developed using Access 2000, and were created to meet the needs of an EMS quality review program. Despite being prototypes, they were (and some continue to be) used on a daily basis. The first two databases in this series are the "Administration and Bug Tracking Database" and the "Departmental Database". These two databases are considered to be the hub of the series, as nearly every other database created as part of this series will use some of the data from these two databases, or interact with them in some fashion. Visit the "Access Prototype Section" (http://openises.sourceforge.net/acs_index.html) to learn more about the prototype series, specifics of these two programs, and how you can download them. |

We have been working on a major update to the main Open ISES Project web site. We are pleased to announce that the site is now up and active well ahead of schedule. The site has been completely redone, with a goal of making the site easier to use, easier to find information, and quicker to load. We hope that you will find the new site is much better suited to your needs. We will be going back and updating some of the other project sites in a similar fashion. They will look similar, while still retaining their own individual style. Please let us know what you think of the new site. What you like, what you don't like, and how we can improve it. -- Robert W. Austin, NREMT-Paramedic & Founding Member The Open ISES Project http://openises.sourceforge.net rob...@us... |

Hello everyone... I just found this project last week and I'm very excited. I help administer a small dispatch center for my fire/EMS department. We are still using a DOS program that I wrote years ago in dBase, and have been looking for something better. But, as always, money is very tight. This software could be the answer. I've downloaded everything and tried installing following the directions, but I must have something configured wrong with MySQL, PHP, Apache or something. Is there anybody out there that may have more detailed step by step directions for configuring everything? I'm not computer illiterate, but I'm not really up on the newest technology either. At any rate, I would very much appreciate it if someone could provide some help. Thanks, Rob Skolmutch Plain Township, Ohio |
