I got some people trying to use OpenHTM IDE and they told me that our UI is not clear in use. I propose to use this thread for posting your (users') thoughts on OpenHTM usability.

First issue is that our 'workflow' starts with 'Init HTM button'. The problem is that it accepts any txt file, besides that even a valid input file needs the CLA to be configured before being run.

Our Net visualizer in a separate window doesn't seem to be acceptable on small screens or on screens with a scaling enabled, so maybe we could include it as another tab in main window? (I'm not sure if that's possible)

My own suggestion is to deploy our sample inputs combined with projects which are configured to process them (like column grid size, saptial/temporal poolers, synapse params etc.) so that users who open IDE for the first time could run these samples (benchmarks) without trouble.

When a user opens IDE, he can see 'InitHTM' button enabled and presses it, he's redirected to the 'Properties' where he selects an input and then tries to run a sample (without touching Regions/Synapses because it seems to be working already) but usually gets no learning results.

It is the old problem with assembly info's. I removed assembly info from gitIgnore (this won't cause troubles since new versions of assemblies will be uploaded only someone use T4 Transform not every time).
Please clone the project again.

We'll have many redundant commit changes then, but if all agree...
I removed that files on purpose so that users (who wish to build themselves) could know what version they use and we could know if their problems are current.
Maybe we'd rather upload new compiled exe's more frequently?
And I think it's not a place to discuss build errors by team members, just ready product.
We'll have many redundant commit changes then, but if all agree...
Actually the files only will be commited if someone explicitly build T4 Templates. Simple builds don't create/change current assembly files. I did test before do this.
You're right. This is not the place. Since the HoaNam problem is solved, we could delete these messages.

One of the problems I have with OpenHTM interface is it's complexity and lack of history comparison. To check system consistency and pattern extraction it's better to compare different steps in a more comparable form. In my implementation of OpenHTM I have a history saver plugin which can save results in csv format. This file can be later investigated with spreadsheet tools like calc, excel, ... Take a look to a sample output at here and here (these files are in LibreOffice 4 format that can be also be opened with MS-Excel 2010+ but maybe some conditional formatting regarding cell state coloring shows wrong)

Hi there. I just finished reading Jeff's book and the HTM white paper. Eager to try out the code..
Uhm. Do we have a getting-started guide somewhere..? There are some broken links in the user documentation & I am kind of confused when I opened the IDE...where to start....
Sorry I am a complete newbie in this..Any suggestions will be really appreciated.

Hi Kelsie,
the project is in active development and now we start getting updates from Numenta on their progress. So before we create the guide we need to have stable UI and of course more intuitive.
You can help us by specifying what exactly made you confused if you tried "just running" the network.
