Hi, Damien, I think you missed the point of my original post. 1)Ohphone is now broken with your patch. The command option for ohphone --videodevice no longer works correctly. You used to be able to do --videodevice /dev/video1 2)What can be done to fix ohphone? Derek. =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D On Tue, 23 Nov 2004, Damien Sandras wrote: > Derek, >=20 > Le mardi 23 novembre 2004 =E0 09:58 +1300, Derek Smithies a =E9crit : > > Damien, > > I would be interested to know where this development direction is g= oing. > >=20 > > The reason I put the double name hack in was so that ohphone works wh= en=20 > > you say, > > --videodevice /dev/video1 > >=20 > >=20 > > With the change below, does ohphone still work with the above command= =20 > > line? The conclusion of the discussion was that we need "Open" to accept both the "user-friendly" device name and the "real" device name.=20 However, having the function that detects the available devices returning both the friendly and the non-friendly name is the wrong fix for that. For example, I can not have GnomeMeeting with this behavior, as it would be considered as a bug and wouldn't be very convenient. So there are 3 solutions: 1) Have someone who works on a fix for all plugins so that both friendly and non-friendly names can be returned by separate functions and used by Open, 2) Distribute GnomeMeeting 1.2 with a patched version of pwlib, 3) Add special code for the "broken" plugins in GnomeMeeting other GUI clients. I think that 1) is probably the most clever way to go, but until it is done, I have removed what I consider as a workaround to the real problem. I have asked Craig before doing so. Damien, I would be interested to know where this development direction is going. The reason I put the double name hack in was so that ohphone works when you say, --videodevice /dev/video1 With the change below, does ohphone still work with the above command line? I think not, and so this question. My view is that ohphone is the testbed of all openh323 software. Ohphone is the application that all developers (linux, win, mac, bsd) can use to test new features. Consequently, we must strive to ensure that things work for ohphone. Derek. =================================================== On Sun, 21 Nov 2004, Damien Sandras wrote: > Update of /cvsroot/openh323/pwlib/plugins/vidinput_v4l > In directory sc8-pr-cvs1.sourceforge.net:/tmp/cvs-serv19726 > > Modified Files: > vidinput_v4l.cxx > Log Message: > Temporarily removed the double names hack. > > > Index: vidinput_v4l.cxx > =================================================================== > RCS file: /cvsroot/openh323/pwlib/plugins/vidinput_v4l/vidinput_v4l.cxx,v > retrieving revision 1.12 > retrieving revision 1.13 > diff -C2 -d -r1.12 -r1.13 > *** vidinput_v4l.cxx 5 Sep 2004 19:30:23 -0000 1.12 > --- vidinput_v4l.cxx 21 Nov 2004 19:17:17 -0000 1.13 > *************** > *** 26,29 **** > --- 26,32 ---- > * > * $Log$ > + * Revision 1.13 2004/11/21 19:17:17 dsandras > + * Temporarily removed the double names hack. > + * > * Revision 1.12 2004/09/05 19:30:23 dsandras > * Updated hint for buggy Quickcam camera. > *************** > *** 538,542 **** > for (PINDEX i = 0; i < inputDeviceNames.GetSize(); i++) { > result += GetUserFriendly (inputDeviceNames[i]); > ! result += inputDeviceNames[i]; > } > > --- 541,545 ---- > for (PINDEX i = 0; i < inputDeviceNames.GetSize(); i++) { > result += GetUserFriendly (inputDeviceNames[i]); > ! //result += inputDeviceNames[i]; > } > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > SF email is sponsored by - The IT Product Guide > Read honest & candid reviews on hundreds of IT Products from real users. > Discover which products truly live up to the hype.
