Kurzfassung: Der aktuelle Download enthaelt NICHT die am einfachsten geeigneten Daten fuer eine Umkreissuche. Wer diese benoetigt, der moege unmittelbar die Datei PLZ.tab auf http://fa-technik.adfc.de/code/opengeodb/ auswaehlen.

Erklaerung: opengeodb enthielt zeitweise Daten von Postleitzahl-Gebieten. Der zugehoerige Typ lautet 100800000.

Die Koordinaten von Postleitzahl-Gebieten sind keine opengeodb-Angaben im normalen Hierarchieschema. Sie sind ein Sonderfall, der sich nicht auf die geografische Position von Orten oder amtlichen Verwaltungsstrukturen bezieht, sondern auf die Anwendung der Post als Firma.... read more

The data from opengeodb is now dumped from a web cgi where everyone is invited to add and fix data.

From version 0.2.5 on the SQL data is converted from a plain text file to SQL syntax.

The current data is parked on http://fa-technik.adfc.de/code/opengeodb.pl

The plain text versions can be downloaded any time with latest data directly from http://fa-technik.adfc.de/code/opengeodb

Changes are tracked and can be reverted easily.... read more

The OpenGeoDB project found a new home here at SourceForge. We're happy to release the recent data of geo coded cities of middle europe (mainly germany, austrian and swiss data). This data is freely available for everyone and available in various formats such like MySQL, Postgres or plain text. A GML (Geography Markup Language) version is in work and more files (country shape file) will be provided, so watch our project the next days!
