Hi There must be a million of these emails already placed through the mailing list, so firstly let me appologise for repeating it. =20 I have downloaded and installed the opengc software onto my windows XP pc running MSFS04 with WIDEFS & FSUIPC module registered. My second PC (win2000) connected to my LAN (TCP-IP) has the wideclient running and connected successfully!=20 =20 I have edited the opengc.ini file as below; =20 # OpenGC - The Open Glass Cockpit Project =20 # This is a sample initialization file # It will probably _NOT_ work on your system without changing paths =20 #--------BASE INITIALIZATION-------- # These attributes must always be present, in order, and valid # Note that the path names _must_ end with a trailing '/' =20 NAV DATABASE PATH d:/ogc/xplanenav/ =20 FONT PATH c:/winnt/fonts/ =20 #--------DATA SOURCE SETUP-------- DATA SOURCE FSUIPC =20 # All of the legal data source names are shown below # FSUIPC # FDS # X-Plane # FlightGear =20 # Note that in general a data source is specified by a single line # following the DATA SOURCE declaration. =20 #--------RENDER WINDOW SETUP-------- # The format is xpos ypos width height frametest # The first 4 parameters are in pixels, the fifth is 0=3Dfalse, 1=3Dtrue =20 RENDER WINDOW 20 60 700 700 1 =20 #--------GAUGE INITIALIZATION # An arbitray number of gauges may be present =20 NEWGAUGE Boeing777PFD 10 10 1.0 1.0 ENDGAUGE =20 ## Legal gauge names listed below # Boeing777PFD # NavTestGauge # Keypad # EGyroAltimeterSetting =20 I start MSFS04 first and get the widefs connection then on the 2nd PC start the OpenGC.exe and the default gauge comes up with airspeed of 30 and alt 0000 and thats where is stays, no movement at all. =20 =20 Any help would be great =20 thanks in advance=20 =20 Steve ********************************************************************** This email and any attached files are confidential. Hi all, I have just started to take a look at OpenGC (I want to use it with Microsoft Flight Simulator). I am wondering which gauges I can display using OpenGC. In the INI file, the following gauges are suggested: ## Legal gauge names listed below # Boeing777PFD # NavTestGauge # Keypad # EGyroAltimeterSetting But if you look at http://www.opengc.org/screenshots.html it mentions a Boeing 737 EICAS display and a Nav display. (Note that I could not find the nav database on www.x-plane.org/users/robinp, anywhere). Are there Gauge names for 737 displays like PFD, ND, EICAS etc? Thanks, Edwin. -- Edwin Room RODAPRO B.V. e-mail: edw...@ro... tel: 06-21644707 |

Does anyone know how to configure the windows executable opengc to accept flightgear over the network? I configured flightgear with the command written in the opengc manual sec. 4.3 with the proper IP address, port info, etc., but I'm a little confused on how to configure the opengc.ini file. In the Base Initialization I defined both paths for the NAV DATABASE and FONT in windows and for the DATA SOURCE I selected FlightGear. Do I need to include additional information about the FDM host (e.g. IP address) here? i am running FGFS from CYGWIN, and perhaps that is the problem, but the needles on the remote machine do not respond. I am pretty sure the host machine is broadcasting udp packets (tested with small program), but I may be creating problems elsewhere. Thanks in advance, Caleb Bonilla |

Hi All I am new to OpenGC. I just got the latest version from CVS (thanks for the code). I am doing some simulation work in order to design a landing system that is based on computer vision. I am using Open Scene Graph for rendering the scenery. Currently the system is autonomous, but I am going to over-ride the control inputs with a joystick, and display the error signal which is a function of displacement with respect to the flight path. I would like to use this error signal to drive some conventional aircraft instrumentation. Just to keep things compact, I like the idea of using a glass cockpit format. So the idea is that the pilot is able to land the aircraft just like he is riding the ILS beam. My question to you developer guys is which components do I need from the source code to simply draw a glass cockpit, that is driven with my simulation data ? Thank you Bart :-) _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: advanced junk mail protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail |

Hi everyone, hope you had a good holiday season. I survived my drive around Ireland in a very tiny car, on very tiny roads, and it's back to work on OpenGC... I'm tentatively releasing version 0.40 of OpenGC for Mac OSX. This should be considered a highly experimental release, since I have not had the chance to try it on any machines other than my Powerbook. As mentioned in the release notes, I suspect that an X-Plane to OpenGC connection will probably work (assuming both machines are Macs) but I have not been able to confirm this. In any case, if those of you with Macs could provide feedback on how this release works for you, I'd appreciate it. The differences between 0.35 and 0.40 are largely technical and not apparent to end-users, so I'm going to hold off on a 0.40 release for Windows until the kinks (if any) are worked out the Mac release. Cheers, -Damion- Btw - I apologize to those of you who are receiving duplicate emails. Very few people have subscribed to the opengc-announce list, which is why I also sent this to the devel list. If you prefer, I can do away with the announce list altogether. Feedback is welcome. _________________________________________________________________ Protect your PC - get McAfee.com VirusScan Online http://clinic.mcafee.com/clinic/ibuy/campaign.asp?cid=3963 |

Hi everyone, OpenGC 0.35 is now available for download. New features include: 1) Fixed a memory leak affecting many of the 737 gauge components. This was causing OpenGC to consume progressively more memory over time, eventually overwhelming available system memory (not a good thing...) 2) Added (re-added, actually) support for FlightGear. Please see the readme for details. Support is still a bit sketchy, but has been tested with FlightGear 0.80 on two machines running Windows XP. 3) Glut is history! We're now using FLTK to emulate Glut functionality, which reduces the overall size of the OpenGC distribution and removes dependence on an external library. If you have problems, don't hesitate to ask. I am going to avoid releasing a ..zip of the source for several days until I can verify that there aren't any major problems with this release (like the zip problem that affected 0.30). CVS access is, of course, still available. Even if you don't want FlightGear support, I strongly suggest downloading 0.35 to fix the memory leak issue. This version does not require new nav data, just the exe. Finally - I'd like to remind anyone who has problems to try downloading the Windows DLL package. Cheers, -Damion- |

Hi everyone, A user sent me a note that the version 0.3 archives were causing problems, and it appears as if the Windows XP archiver managed to corrupt the zip files. This has hopefully been fixed by issuing a new set of files generated with a 3rd party compressor (denoted by the r2 in the filename). If you've experienced problems, please try the new files. Hi everyone, After a long development period OpenGC 0.2 is available for download and testing. This release expands far beyond the 0.02 version, and includes PFD, Nav, and EICAS displays. Please download the new version, give it a try, and let me know if you encounter any problems. As a reminder, the SourceForge CVS repository is now long out of date. Instructions for accessing the current CVS server may be found on the developer's page. Cheers, -Damion- |

Hi everyone... (apologies for duplicate messages) This is to inform you that we have completed our move from the Sourceforge cvs servers to a new machine, which will allow more flexible directory management. The new cvsroot is: cvs.opengc.org:/opengc Anonymous read-only access is availabe via: cvs -d :pserver:an...@cv...:/opengc login Respond with the password: opengccvs If you are a developer and would like write access to the repository please send email to da...@op... and I will create an account for you. The Sourceforge CVS site is now out-of-date, and will eventually be removed, although we will likely be hosting the mailing lists, forums, and web site through them for quite a while. Also, because of the number of people who are becoming interested in the project, I would like to switch primarily to the mailing lists rather than personal mailings (when the topic is of general interest). There are currently two mailing lists, opengc-devel and opengc-announce, which you can join through the web site. All future announcements will be made through one of the two opengc lists, so join now if you want to be notified of future changes. Thanks, -Damion- _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx |

I apologize in advance if any of you receive duplicates of this message. = There are now two lists on Sourceforge, devel and announce. After this = message, I will only post developer messages to the devel list and = reserve the announce list for end-user announcements. First, John is working on a cygwin/linux (and theoretically Mac OSX = port) as well as a Flightgear data source object. The open-source model = in action! Second - after promising to do so for several days - I've synced the CVS = source to the 0.02 release. No major changes, but it does include the = scrolling portion of the altitude and speed tapes. And third, if anyone has any suggestions on a good cross-platform TCP/IP = / UDP interface, please let me know. Cheers, -Damion- |
