just found your project by accident (on the gentoo bugtracker about ogre 
and freeimage, http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=178110 )

i was positively surprised to find the public-domain skyboxes i made 
actually being used in a project (green one and reddish one i think),
you can find some more stuff from me to use in

i'm also working on a spacegame using ogre with a few friends, 
http://sfz.sourceforge.net , maybe you can find a few bits of useful 
code there =)
Also some people have created models for us, and put them under liberal 
licenses (some gpl, some public domain, some cc-by-sa ...)
you can find them in our art-subforum on 
http://freegamer.schattenkind.net , maybe there is something you can use 
there.
