I propose the creation of an anti-spam system which should stop most of the spam
bots in their tracks.
This system could be modelled after the phpBB mod which attempts to do the same
thing at:
http://www.phpbb.com/files/mods/disable-spambots-1.1.4.mod
Overall, this is completely transparent to the user.
Sample guestbooks which have been attacked by unwelcomed parasites include:

Numerous other guestbook software available online is affected by these same
spam bots; this is not a problem unique to the openFIRST Portal System, but we
are in a unique position to fix this.
I estimate that this should take about 1 hour of time to research, implement and
test and should solve the majority of the guestbook spam problems greatly easing
the current burden on webmasters to delete garbage messages (something that many
never bother to do, making their site guestbook look run down and unmaintained).
