Release Notes:

19.6.2016 Version 0.1: Initial Release

You find all files here at sourceforge in the "Code" section.

Installation instructions:
Copy „Applications.app“ to anywhere you like on your SSD/HD.
If its the first time you use this app, right-click on the app icon and choose „open“. In the following dialog confirm that you want to open the app.

The app will open and a new finder window appears. Close this finder window.

Put the app in the dock. Now anytime you need a new finder window with a fixed size simply click on the app icon in the dock.

If you want to change the setting of the finder window (size, attributes) you need to compile „Application.scpt“:

Go to the folder „AppleScript“ in this downloaded and extracted project and open the file Application.scpt in Script Editor.

Make the changes you need and save the code.

Then you click on „Export“ in the „File“ menu in the menu bar. For the format you choose „Application“ or „Program“. You can leave the code signature setting on „no signature“.

After you have saved the copiled app you can open the app by double click or right-click like described above.

If you want to use this as a service with a keyboard shortcut, right-click on the Automator workflow „New fixed size Finder Window“ and choose open. If this is the first time you open this file you have to confirm that you want to open the file. After this you will be asked if that file should be installed or opened with Automator. Choose „install“.

Now I suggest you reboot your Mac since I have not found a way to make the service available in the menu bar under “Finder” -> “Services” -> “New fixed size Finder Window”.

When this service is available there you have to open Mac OS X system settings. Go to “Keyboard” -> “Shortcuts” ->”Services” and scroll down until you see “New fixed size Finder Window” at the bottom of the list. Choose this entry and click in the area next to the script name to enter a new shortcut. I use ctrl-alt-cmd-N since this seems to be the only name with a “N” - all other shortcuts seems already taken.

See the accompanied File “Install.pdf” for more informations and screenshots of this process.
