Scanning disks...
Status: Beta

I've been running Openfi for a few days now, all
fine, but now I find after the openfi bootstrap
happens it says something like:
openfi app v.0.9.202
Scanning disks...
Disc0(Dxxxxxxxx)(SC)
and stays that way for a long time, at least 30min,
at which point I have to turn the car off.
What is "Scanning disks..." - is it a normal
procedure and should I be worried about it? I can't
find anything written about it here.
I have about 2500 songs on it, all MP3, synced by
SimpleCenter wireless.
Great project, keep it up
Thanks

This is a point in the boot process where it might be
difficult to figure out whether the app is locking up or the
disk is not responding properly.
I would try removing and re-inserting your disk, then try it
again. See if that helps...

Add me to the list....
Same thing. SC runs fine, but Openfi gets stuck there and
just won't go on (most of the time).
If I reboot (hold power down for >10 secs), and then power
off with the Omnifi logo lit, I can get into simplecenter,
but Openfi just gets stuck.
It would be nice if there were some sort of activity
indicator, verbose mode, or some way to figure out what
it's doing when it gets stuck.

I've tried removing hard drive and re-inserting both when
the car is running and when it it not with no luck. When it
doesn boot ~1 out of 10 times, my keypad is locked out which
is another bug I have read here...any thoughts?? I like the
new bootstrap, but with it like this it is unusable.
Thanks,

Sorry, forgot to tell you I'm also running v.0.9.202
It flashes between (SC) and some other word/letters in
parentheses...probably doesn't mean anything, but just
wanted to let you know.

Would also like to add that I am getting this as well. But I
am wondering is there is perhaps something I don't know.
I've noticed most people have said they are running app
v.0.9.202, I am running 0.9.210 I believe is the latest
version and I see this all the time. Should I be running a
different version? Is 0.9.202 more stable? Either way thanks
for the work flamozzle.

Ok, So I totally goofed, I am running 0.9.210, not the other
crazy version I apparently made up.
Sorry...
Note: One thing that I'm thinking might fix this prob,
although I haven't tried, is removing my mp3's from the root
directory, and seeing if maybe I have some that aren't
tagged properly or something. I guess I'm thinking this
because not everyone is having this problem, so there must
be something specificly different about the way our systems
are set up. just a thought.

I'm in the same boat here. OpenFi appears to lockup at the
Scanning disks stage. I let it run for about 45 mins, but
with no luck. And I'm not seeing any HD activity on the
OmniFi, so it appears to be DOA. I have about 10GB of media
on that drive. Should I remove all of that first? Anyone
with any ideas?

After observing this for the last few months I have noticed
a couple of things:
1) when it was cold out and the drive comes up and says the
disk is out of temperature range and 'warms up' before
continueing I found that it was more likely that OpenFi
would work after.
2) I've had the number of songs varried from 20 to over
5,000 and have noticed no difference in the number of times
it works or gets stuck on scanning disks. I've also tried
more/less folders and removing music put on through
simplescenter, as well as file name size and see no difference.
due to observations in #1 I wonder if there is anyone with
the HDD temp hack that could comment on if they get these
issues?
For anyone who doesn't know there is a hack to take out the
temp probe so the disk just starts and doesn't check.. just
a blind guess, but there has been no other suggestions, so
you never know.

Same problem here. Mine locks up the same way 9 out of 10 times on startup. Does not seem to be related to temp as I am operating between 60F & 70F. Any new suggestions?
