I'm looking into plugging S52 (IHO vector symboligy)
My understanding is that Atlsci.com already
have something on the drawing board
(from there web site.)
I have a working prototype for rendering
S57 (using Frank OGR) with S52 and OpenGL.
The code is at FMaps.sourceforge.net in
Now, looking at OpenEV I'm wondering if I'm
not reinventing the wheel all over!
So my question is, is there someone already working
on that, or direction already thought of for
integrating symbology into OpenEV?
IHO S57/S52 specifications are used in ECDIS
(Electronic Chart Display and Information System)
but it could also be used in MarineGIS since there
is provision in the S52 to put raster RADAR image
in between IHO S57 layers. Exemple of field of
that I think that would be relevant are operational
oceanography, pollution, ice, weather and so on.
What about linking OpenEV to a DGPS?
I have been programming in Marine/ECDIS field for a
number of years but I have limited experience in GIS
so any thought would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time,
