Sylvain, I have tested out your changes and they seem to work well with either float or double. I did a little test to see if using double improved problems with floating point vector location representation (ie. jitter as I zoom in), but I wasn't able to establish that the "double" build was any better. Is it possible that some OpenGL implementation use floating point for the internal geometry pipeline, negating much of the value of working in double precision? PS. I added a --with-double-geocoord configure option on Linux.
