    Hi there,

Starting Oct 2014 the new ICD 10 will go in effect. I am using openemr version 4.1.1 and I believe I am still using the old CMS 1500 and icd 9. But mainly I am submitting my claims through X12.

    My questions are,
1- must the new CMS 1500 and ICD 10 reflect on X12 as well?

2- dose version 4.1.2 support ICD 10 and therefore X12.

I hope my question makes sense.

    Thank you.

    hi,
    1) new cms 1500 and x12 5010 were built to accommodate icd 10
    2) probably good to check in on Brad Gregg and see how he's coming along:

I vaguely remember that one of the reasons for the change from 4010 to 5010 was to accommodate ICD-10 codes. If that is the case, it would be a simple matter of setting up Code Types for ICD-10.

Patch 5 released yesterday makes the necessary changes to the CMS 1500 form. Upgrade to 4.1.2 (5) should be done before October.

Thank you for your reply. I will upload the patch for now and upgrade to 4.1.2 soon.

The 4.1.2 package comes pre-installed with patch 3. One only needs to patch to 5, which contains all the stuff in patch 4.

After patching to 5, Administration/Global/Feature, there is a choice of the old format (08/05) or new (02/12), It is defaulted to the old format. Very useful to have both, because if there is a pesky claim requiring resubmission from last year, it will have to be done in the old format. (Thank you, Kevin.)

New paper claims submitted after April 1, 2014 must be in the new format, therefore upgrade to 4.1.2 (5) should be done before the month is out.

    All,

My apologies for the delay on this. I had to table testing temporarily, but will resume and post results to SF within the coming weeks.

If your clearinghouse is Office Ally, no reason to submit with ICD-10 codes just yet.

    See Jeff Guillory's post.

    copy/pasta from the other thread:

Most clearinghouses wont accept the codes until 10/1, but they all have testing environments for vendors. I'm on top of the Availity/Gateway testing, so assuming both of those test well, it will work for all clearinghouses.
