configuration error: OpenEMR Setup
Welcome to OpenEMR. This utility will step you through the installation and configuration of OpenEMR for your practice.
Before proceeding, be sure that you have a properly installed and configured MySQL server available, and a PHP configured webserver.
Detailed installation instructions can be found in the 'INSTALL' manual file.
If you are upgrading from a previous version, do NOT use this script. Please read the 'Upgrading' section found in the 'INSTALL' manual file.
We will now ensure correct file and directory permissions before starting installation:
Ensuring following files are world-writable...
UNABLE to open file 'C:\inetpub\wwwroot\openemr\sites\default\sqlconf.php' for writing.
(configure file permissions; see below for further instructions)
please help me thankss
It is much easier to install the OpenEMR-XAMPP package using Option 1.
ok I will try option one, thank fsql for your reply.
I think what I ran into trying out other WAMP packages besides the XAMPP install package was that when you start most other WAMP packages you have a mysql login that defaults to user name root and then your password. The openemr install package defaults to username openemr and then your password. So the install won't run. I have been trying out other WAMP packages because XAMPP is considered so insecure and upcoming MU2 won't really allow you to limit your server to localhost only. I have gotten bitnami and universal server to run openemr, but the more I have studied security the more unsure I get.
Have you considered running OpenEMR from within an Ubuntu appliance on your windows server? Then can sidestep all of resource investment going in to try to secure windows.
Don't you have just one location? Can't you work offline for the most part? If most of your patients are seniors, do you really need to enable Patient Portals now?
We have time to meet the challenges of Core Measure 7 of Stage II Meaningful Use. Because the reporting period is 90 days, we have a little more than a year to figure it out. It's not going to be easy, but we will try mightily to rise to the occasion and protect our medical records at the same time.
Regarding patient portals, I was just reviewing/testing ZH Healthcare's code last night that allows access to their offsite portal without exposing self to the internet (it uses vpn). It is pretty cool. Still some things to clean up on the code but it should be going into the codebase soon (and will likely go into a 4.1.2 patch at some point).
I will have to do my homework about ZH Healthcare's VPN.
The safest way to ensure the privacy of our patients' records is working offline. I know it is not practicable given MU 2.
For every better mousetrap there will be the smarter mouse who can outwit it.
I installed on my server, 4.1.2, evrything is fine, but after download ICD9 code, I click calendar, the calendar can open, but can not add events or appointment, if click add, the blank calendar popup out, the calendar not show; Also if I try to add new patient, popu out blank window, same thing, if click patient on left, and then list patient name show on window, but if I click individual patient name, popup up blank window also, any advice, thankss
Did you set up the Calendar properly?
How did you import the ICD9 codes?
yes, set up calendar on globals/calendar/
Calendar Starting Hour 8AM
Calendar Ending Hour 9PM
Calendar Interval 15
Appointment Display Style : first name last name
Providers See Entire Calendar yes
Auto-Create New Encounters yes
Appointment/Event Color facility color
and I load CD9 from other/external database load. after that I can open new patient window, cannot make appointment, can not add events, donot why?
If you checked the box next to Disable Calendar, please uncheck it.
If you did not follow the directions for Calendar setup described in this Wiki article, do so.
Hi Fsgl, thank you for your reply,
I Did not check the disable calendar, of course, the problems i had are:
If click add appointment or event, it popup a blank calendar window;
if I click patient name, it popup a blank windows also;
if I click add new patient, it popup a blank window,
any advice, thankss
I agree that both the vpn to offsite portal and the use of ubuntu appear to be the best current ideas. My two previous attempts at linux, once by making a linux server with an extra pc and once with the appliance were both kind of frustrating to me. Its like realizing that the best way to do this is available but its just written in French.
I am a solo primary care guy, and in the past I did very little Medicare. But over time my patient population and myself have aged and the federal government continues to become more prominent in my life. The demographic of the baby boom, of which I am a part, is going to be pretty hard to ignore.
The real security problem I see, is that updating all the individual packages of apache, php, and mysql as security updates come out, becomes very onerous and tends to mess up your server settings whether you are in Windows or Linux. Every time they release one of these updates it seems like its telling the bad guys how to break into the older versions. So if there isn't some kind of automatic update mechanism like Windows OS and security software does, you are already behind. I am hoping that if I keep messing with the options, that I will find a solution I am comfortable with by a year from now when we all need it.
Don't despair, CVerk.
I could start ranting about our federal government and the most recent revelations about the NSA, but it does not get the job done.
Given a choice, I doubt that any one of us would want to practice anywhere else.
Another approach is a clearer understanding of Core Measure 7. Our Academy should come out with some guidelines soon. There may be another way to crack this nut. I'll share it with you when I've figured it out. Not being cryptic. The idea is just a kernel and very far from being fully formed.
Let's start from the beginning again.
1.Discard the present XAMPP-OpenEMR package.
2.Re-install the package.
3.Set up the practice and physicians as directed by Setting Up Your Clinic.
4.Create an account for just one patient as directed by Adding a New Patient.
5.Set up the Calendar exactly as directed by Setting Up Schedules.
6.Don't import the ICD-9 codes for now.
7.Don't customize until later.
Are you able to schedule an appointment for this one patient?
Thank you fsql:
i reinstalled 4.1.2 on my server and following your direction looks ok add new patient and calendar works very good, so I try to install multisite on my server, because we have several doctors in our clinics, they all independent, I following multisite module, created new database for second site, every thing is ok, on Step 3, show error message:
Creating site directory...OK.
Connecting to MySQL Server... ERROR. Check your login credentials. unable to connect to database as user: 'acuherb2_acuherb'
any advice, thankss
How did you format the scrollbar in your original post?
Never mind, I figured it out myself.
It does not sound as if you have completely set up your copy of OpenEMR.
Try ICD-9 import first.
We will work on Multiple Sites later.
I added ICD9 Code from other/ external database, looks ok, Add new patient, add appointment , still working, thanks,
1. is message reminder under patient sent through email? how to contact with patient? have to sign phimail? can I just use host SMTP mail contact with patients?
2. try to set up onsite patient portal: what i did on ...choice/allow onsite patient portal, and email allowed, etc; and also i set access site on globals, and enable onsite patient portal, when I test it, on patient portal, show error:
Something went wrong. Please try again."
I checked patient can receive the email, but can not login, with use ID and password,
Add CPT codes first.
1.Purchase & download CPT data set from the AMA Store.
2.Download and deploy OpenOffice Calc.
3.Paste this text into C1, leaving no space after the 2nd left parenthesis:
INSERT INTO `codes` (`code_text`, `code`, `code_type`) VALUES
4.Copy & paste the descriptions into Column A.
5.Copy & paste the codes into Column B.
6.Be certain in Tools/Options/OpenOffic Calc/View/Display that the Formula box is unchecked.
7.Click C2 & fx, Function Wizard.
8.In Formula box paste:
$C$1& "'"& A2& "'"& ",'"& B2& "'"& ","& "1"& ");"
Leave no space after last quotation mark, then hit Enter.
9.Output should look like this:
INSERT INTO `codes` (`code_text`, `code`, `code_type`) VALUES('Comprehensive Exam, New ','92004',1);
10.Drag the lower right corner of C2 down to the last row & the rest of Column C will have the corresponding output as in C2.
11.Copy & paste from C2 downward into Notepad++.
12.Backup your copy of OpenEMR before importation.
13.Import via phpMyAdmin or Configuration Import from Administration/Backup.
14.Check in Database/codes and Adminstration/Codes for proper importation.
