Hello Everyone,
I know it's been a while. Since my last update I moved almost halfway across the country. Needless to say, this has taken quite a bit of my time. Also, I no longer have commute time to work on this application.
I can finally retrieve items for a specified group name. This is extremely important because of the large number of drop-down boxes in the OpenEmergencyMobile application. By the way, the OpenEmergencyMobile application runs just fine in Chrome.... read more
Hi Everyone,
I'm sure some of you have been waiting with baited breath on the latest release of OpenEmergencyMobile! :) It's up here now, come and get it! As always, please provide constructive feedback.
The Notes and Chief Complaint pop-ups are not working and I don't know why. This happened when I upgraded to Dojo Toolkit 1.10.0 to take advantage of local storage. You'll need to restart the application to do other things. I'm looking into it.... read more
Hello Everyone,
The good news is that in OpenEmergencyMobile you can add a new patient and they will show up in the "Choose Pt" pop-up. The bad news, since I upgraded my computer, I'm not able to build a new version of the Android client. I'm working on it.
Thanks,
Harlan...
Hello Everyone,
I've updated some screenshots of my application running on my Android phone. I know they are not the prettiest screens, but I'm still working on the functionality and trying to make the program useful. Most of the buttons do not have anything attached, but I wanted them shown for placeholders, and as a reminder of what I still need to work on.
Thank You all for your patience.

Hello Everyone,
I have another version of the Android version uploaded. Version 0.0.2-ALPHA. Please take a look and feel free to make construction comments or improvement.
Needless to say, this application is not quite ready for prime-time, but feedback would be useful.
Thank You and have a Great Day!!!

Hello Everyone,
I've been making lots of changes internally - lots of refactoring once I figure out how to do different things. In the process, the build process for the Android client seems to be broken. I'm not sure why, but I'm still looking into it. Meanwhile, I have continued to work on the basic program. If you run it through Apache web server, you can see the application running just fine.... read more
Hello Everyone,
I just uploaded a preview of OpenEmergencyMobile for Android! It does not save anything and still needs lots of work. Right now, it only has basic user interface actions running. I'm looking for constructive feedback and ideas.
Hello Everyone,
I finally have some new screenshots to post. As soon as I can figure out how to put them up with the new SF changes, I'll do so.
Thank You for your support!

Hi Everyone,
Well, back in November I thought I had the multi-level tabs working - I didn't. THEY ARE WORKING NOW!!! With the help of Andres from the Griffon project, the tabs are working!!!
Also, all files under this project are licensed under the GPL. Some of the files have the GPL header in them, some do not, but ALL of them are under the GPL no matter what.
Time to get the individual detail screens fleshed out.... read more
Hi,
I've been trying to figure this out for a long time: How to do multiple levels of tabs in Griffon and Groovy. I finally got it working today!!!
Next: get working on the detail screens to fill in the tabs; security (login, etc.); initial patient name screen (pop-up); and of course the back-end Java components to store the data correctly.
Making some progress.

Hello Everyone,
It's been far too long since my last update.
The job I had only lasted 3 weeks. The company I was working at said they didn't have enough work to keep everyone busy and let me go. So, I'm back to looking for work.
I like to believe I'm making progress. So far nothing that can be released. I'm starting to get the hang of using git, but it still takes a little while to get everything updated. The tabs are still not working correctly, but it doesn't crash nearly as often as it used to.... read more
Hello,
After being laid-off for nearly 15 months, I now have a new job. I start next week Wednesday. It is a contract for hire position. So if I do well, they may hire me! I'm very excited about, in not small part, because I get the chance to learn new things, to me anyways. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to this.
I will of course keep working on this project.
Thanks,
Harlan...
Hello,
On Thursday, I was able to finally get the code uploaded for the openPatient module. Most of what is there does work, but not all of it. Stay tuned I'm working on it.
Thanks,
Harlan...
Hello,
I'm still working on the Patient Care Reporting piece. Part of the new screens are running. I'm afraid not enough to actually be useful though. This is most certainly an on-going development concern. I'm working on getting some new code put into the GIT repository.
Thank You for taking time to look at my project.
Thanks,
Harlan...
Hello,
I realize I don't provide updates too often. This does not mean, however, that I have stopped working on this project. Quite the opposite actually.
I have changed the front-end programs to use Griffon instead of just straight Swing. This will allow you to run the program either as a stand-alone program, or via the web browser also. Personally, I'm very excited about this!
I also noticed today, that I got my first "Thumbs down" vote. I don't know why this is since there is no code currently published and what is in git right now probably doesn't work very well. Also, no message was left that I have found; I haven't looked through the forums yet, so there could be one.... read more
Hello,
I have switched the code to using Git instead of CVS. The CVS tree will be discontinued soon; as always, all code is still under the GPL license.
I am now using hibernate for the database interaction instead of writing my own code. This is helping to speed up the development a bit, and to allow more databases to be used; I'm still using MySQL so far.
As you can see, I'm still working on this.... read more
Hello,
It has been far too long since my last update.
What's happening now? First of all, I'm still here and working on this project. Second, I was laid-off earlier this spring. Unfortunately, this does not necessarily mean I have more time to work on this project. Fall 2008, I took a class in Java programming and I have decided to go for the Sun Certified Java Programmer (SCJP). I spend quite a bit of time studying. I do some programming on this project for more practice.
As a result of the class and studying, I have seen quite a few things that need to be changed. I'm working on getting those changes made, which of course takes time to do.
As usual, I keep working on it. I will try to keep this updated as I go along.... read more
Hello Everyone,
There will not be much happening with this project for this month. I am getting married at the end of the month and my time needs to be working on getting things done for the Wedding.
I expect to be able to spend more time again in January to continue working on this project.
As always, any ideas or suggestions are welcome.
Have a Great Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

Hello,
I'm still here, working on the OpenEmergency program.
I updated the code tonight. The Patient Demographics screen is nearly done. There are a few things that still need to be done, and tested. I wanted to make sure all the changes I've made got put into the archive here on SourceForge.
I hope the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays are good to you.
Be Safe!

Well, that is a good question. I've had a busy summer! My personal life has kept me busier than I would have expected and the development here has not gone quite a good as I would like it to have.
I haven't uploaded everything yet, but I am nearly done (I hope) with the address entry/update sections.
I ran into a snag a few weeks ago. My Gentoo Linux computer, which I do the development on, did an update and I was no longer able to run the program; I can compile it, but run it. I'm still working on this. The error being thrown is that the mysql-connector can't be found. I'm trying to find a solution to this. If you have one, please post it in the forum.... read more
Hello Everyone,
I have had several suggestions for changes:
- From a Paramedic with lots of street experience, is to have the Chief Complaint on the "New Patient" screen. Then, based on the Chief Complaint, put a suggested treatment guideline into the first Narrative.
- Combine the Medication and Allergy lists into a single screen. This is doable.
- Add more ALS vitals to the Vital Signs screen: aterial BP, End-Tidal CO2.
- Remove the Race and Ethnicity options; apparently law suits are far too common these days. I originally added these because of a suggested form from a state. I need to look at the reporting requirements for various states; if you have any information about this, please let me know in the Forums section.... read more
Hello Everyone,
I have updated the screen shots. There were some changes and some new ones.
Please let me know if you any suggestions. I always welcome comments.
With the help of a friend of mine, I have the database code using Interfaces. It took a little of overhauling, but it seems to be working much better. I have finished one of the support routines for serial table keys and have the New Patient screen working correctly; data is being saved into the patient's table now. Lots more work to be done, but the direction now seems to forward...
Have a Great Day!!!
Hello Everyone,
I have added screenshots for the openPatient module. They don't, entirely, work just yet. But I wanted to put up these screens for comments.
Please put any comments in the Forums section.
Thanks,
Harlan...
Hello,
I have uploaded to the CVS the current state of the openEmergency project files. These are NOT working in any way whatsoever. Mostly I did this as a backup for myself; I have loosing things and I way too much work involved to want to disappear.
This project is licensed under the GPL, including all the files in the all parts of my CVS directories; not all the files have the headers in them just yet, buy they are under the GPL. Documentation may be under the Creative Commons License, but that hasn't been decided yet.... read more
