OpenEERS standalone Win32 binary (.exe) now available

Good news to anyone without Matlab that wants to use OpenEERS. I have successfully compiled OpenEERS into a standalone executable that should run on any Windows PC - even without having Matlab installed! This will open the doors to a much larger audience and so by 2008, I expect it will be found on computers everywhere.

EDIT: I have recently discovered that in order for non-Matlab users to run Matlab compiled code, you must have MCR installed. MCR is a package of Matlab files that are essential for running these types of executables. Unfortunately though, the MCR package that I have put together is 120MB and I do not think I can host a file that large on sourceforge. As a result, I am currently looking for alternative options to really enable the distribution of my program to all who wish to use it. One alternative to the MCR distribution is porting the .m file to Scilab which is a very good and free program, comparable to Matlab.... read more

A step forward in making OpenEERS available to everyone

OpenEERS can now successfully be compiled in Matlab using the included mcc compiler. On Windows, this creates a standalone binary (.exe) which allows the software to be run on any computer - even when Matlab is not installed. I will be trying to compile the program in Matlab on a *nix system to see if a similar binary can be created for everyone on a non-Windows OS. Keep checking back for updates.
