Please have a look at

There is a tar.gz file for Linux with the game source code. It refers to
http://www.icculus.org/~phaethon/q3/q3asm-turbo/q3asm-turbo.html
where a faster version of q3asm is created. Maybe this other toolset will
remove our problems with QVM or at least we have someone outside id Software
to discuss the "return value problem".
