Lexification is a problem with rel 0.6 that we should have fixed in 0.7 due out before the end of July in Linux and Win32. -Steve On Sat, 15 Jun 2002, Kevin Brosius wrote: > Hi all. Hi all. Is 'lexify' working in the web interface in 0.6b? I've added my name as a user, so I can Login as myself. However, when I try to use lexify on the new entry, after checking the "term" and "phrase", the operation returns: HTML Transfer halted due to script error: |S#125-S#2369-METHOD| does not have a function value. -- Kevin |

That is a bug that is fixed in the next release which should be uploaded to SourceForge within a couple of weeks. -Steve On Fri, 14 Jun 2002, Yeb Havinga wrote: > Hi! > > For my project it is quite important to be able to define named SubL > functions. > > Trying to do this at the Cyc API gives the error "Operator DEFINE is not > defined in the API". > > Apparently the 0.6 sandbox disallows the definition of named functions, but > is there a way > to do it? > > (It would enable me to travel a list recursively, for instance.) > > Thanks, > Yeb. > > > _______________________________________________________________ > > Don't miss the 2002 Sprint PCS Application Developer's Conference > August 25-28 in Las Vegas - http://devcon.sprintpcs.com/adp/index.cfm?source=osdntextlink > > _______________________________________________ > OpenCyc-devel mailing list > Ope...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/opencyc-devel > -- =========================================================== Stephen L. Hi! For my project it is quite important to be able to define named SubL functions. Trying to do this at the Cyc API gives the error "Operator DEFINE is not defined in the API". Apparently the 0.6 sandbox disallows the definition of named functions, but is there a way to do it? (It would enable me to travel a list recursively, for instance.) Thanks, Yeb. |

I would like to know about how I can put a set of data files under the OpenCycl license. http://www.opencyc.com/license It seems that you have found some way to license the fact files and derivations of such under the lgpl. I am using a homegrown XML file format, but by using DAML or OpenCyc does the xml then magically become a programming language capable of being licensed? Did you have the FSF review your license and the clause about the data files? I am working on a project to extract such facts from the gcc, the introspector.sourceforge.net. Would it be possible for me to put my data files in this format and then license it for only GPled usage? What if the program produces them automatically. Does that mean that all transformations of facts about a program are then under the GPL? This would solve many problems that I am having with the copyright and licensing of such fact files. I look forward to your response, Mike ===== James Michael DuPont __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? [Here's the copy for everyone of a message I easily just sent to Sam alone.] Sam, I didn't find it so difficult to send this message to you. ;) I knew this would cause a debate one way or the other. I read the link you referred to. Have you read the counterargument at: http://www.metasystema.org/essays/reply-to-useful.mhtml ? I don't want this to turn into a big deal. Let's vote, but let's not bother everyone on the list with more messages about this. Please send me a private message (if you can figure out how ;) with your vote, if you care. I'll do what the majority says. You can all review the two arguments in the link above and in the link from Sam below. Sam and Yeb, I already know your votes. Why? Because Yeb doesn't know how to press reply-to-all? Now it is very hard to reply to someone privately on the list. Please read: http://www.unicom.com/pw/reply-to-harmful.html and reconsider restoring the old behaviour! Sam |

No it wouldn't. Here is a summary of all the reasons why: http://www.unicom.com/pw/reply-to-harmful.html Hint: I just hit "reply-to-all" because I wanted to reply to all. If I just wanted to reply to you I could hit "reply" Sam |

Welcome to the unmoderated OpenCyc developer's mail list. Two months after our April release of OpenCyc, we have delivered 8,000+ downloads for Linux. Our build for Win32 is running well in alpha tests and will be part of the next release. We have accepted code contributions from dmiles and yepster which have been uploaded to the CVS tree. And our irc channel at irc.openprojects.net/#opencyc is active. This mail list is your vehicle for getting questions answered, for getting your input accepted and for building our community. -Steve -- =========================================================== Stephen L.
