First of all, thank you for writing openccg!
I have been trying to use it and was able to build a simple "Hello, world!" but cannot get any further...
I certainly lack knowledge about nlp in general and specifically in ccg (reading documents on the home page I stop at terms such as "NP" which I suppose is "Noun Predicate" ^_^) so could you please suggest any introductory text I should read before asking? is there any "nlp for dummies" ?
My target is to join the semantic with external java code. Looking at openccg code, I think this should be done using the realizer on the parse result: am I wrong?

Given openccg's current development status -- ie, not for the faint of heart -- I doubt it's the best tool for you to be working with. You might have a look at the tools listed on DFKI's NLP software registry for other (more mature, better documented) options; here's the link:

Jurafsky and Martin's book is a good place to start with natural language processing; see this page:
