Open CarPool is a simple and convenient car pooling / ride sharing system open for companies, communities and other car pooling systems. It will help the tap the huge energy and cost saving potential related with work-related commuting.

This Wiki contains the technical documentation and implementation hints.

The system contains of

1. A database for user management and matching car pools. It is designed for multiple companies and with multiple office sites, see https://sourceforge.net/p/opencarpool/wiki/Database/
2. The software providing web services for data exchange between the database and the user interfaces

3. The user interfaces

   • Cell phone interface via an Asterisk IVR and text message service
   • Outlook® calendar interface for recurring ride offer or request appointments

The web servises also allow to read data feeds of public transport and taxi services as well as a data exchange with other car pools in order to leverage network effects.
