Currently, the higheest resolution in OpenCamera seems to be around 20MP on my Mi 10T Pro, while the sensor is 108MP.
After some Googling, I see a patch
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/enable-the-5-cams-at-opencamera-including-108mpx-mode.4016279/#post-81252809
I hope that 108MP will be officially supported soon.

Thanks for the link ... I wasn't sure if this also required users to root/modify to whitelist the Open Camera package name (as mentioned in the first post or your comment at https://sourceforge.net/p/opencamera/tickets/879/ ).
Yes, it is necessary to either add Open Camera into the whitelist, or that the whitelist is empty. It is impossible if the ROM forbids it. For Lineage OS, there is a discussion https://www.reddit.com/r/LineageOS/comments/p8u3zt/accessibility_to_aux_cameras_of_camera_apps/ and also issues opened at their jira. Unfortunately, they don't seem to be eager to do so.
One can use the property editor in Magisk to perform a systemless modification, but unlocking bootloader seems inevitable.
Fortunately, Xiaomi offers official tools to unlock bootloaders and they claim that it does not void the warranty.

Sorry, I misunderstood your question. I don't know whether it is necessary to be whitelisted for 108MP, but without Aux Cameras, 108MP does not seem to be useful.
Any news?
Sorry for the delay. In general I'm reluctant to include things that use e.g. private APIs. But Android 12 did add support for these high resolutions (see https://developer.android.com/reference/android/hardware/camera2/CameraMetadata.html#REQUEST_AVAILABLE_CAPABILITIES_ULTRA_HIGH_RESOLUTION_SENSOR ) and it's on my TODO to look at this.
The 48MP and 108MP imaging chips are marketing scam, both are able to output 12MP. Also the "AI mode" belongs to that scam.
108MP is effective. Read that post.
