I am using the app together with Google Photos on my Google Nexus 5X. However the photos made with Open Camera do not show up in Google Photos. If I take photos with other apps, they do show up.

What I've tried:
reset settings (both apps)
changed save location from "DCIM/Open Camera" to "DCIM/Camera" and also "root/Pictures", Photos still don't recognise the files, even if I move them manually where there are other files made with other apps that do get recognised
* uninstall both apps (with clearing data as well) and reinstalling them

I'm not sure what is causing the issue. Is there a way you can have a look into it? Or should I do something to help?

I think I have the same issue.

I have a Nexus 6 and installed Open Camera.
Taking pictures seems to work, but I can't find the photos that I took after I close the Open Camera app.
The photos are not in Google Photos. In Open Camera, the thumbnail shows the photo I just took, but when I click on it then it goes to Google photos, but the photo is gone.
    Any help is welcome,
    Sailenav

Have you checked the sync setting for the chosen folder in the "Device folders" area of the Photos app?

'Device Folders' in Google Photos does not list the 'DCIM/Open Camera' folder in there.

I'm the original poster. The issue came back. As last time, I've checked Device folders. The folder is there, but not the recently taken photos. Weird issue. I'll have to reset my phone probably. Afterwards it always works.

I'm not sure I'm afraid - Google Photos works okay with my Nexus 6. Maybe try to see if they show up in 3rd party gallery apps?

Interestingly for me if I go to "Device folders", it doesn't show "OpenCamera" as a folder, but my photos taken with Open Camera all show up under "Camera" (even though they're definitely in DCIM/OpenCamera).

I still have this issue. Google photos has no way to manually add a folder it didn't discover.

I had the same issue (OnePlus One - lineageOS 14.1[Oct. 09]).
I fixed it by changing the directory in which opencamera saves the pictures/videos to a folder outside DCIM with a different name. (I chose the Pictures folder which was created by the system anyway)

Google Photo then did recognize the new folder and I could check to sync it.
