Samsung added Jpeg-XL compression for DNGs in their phones:

And Apple is also using Jpeg-XL now:
Those DNGs can be opened by Adobe products for a while, making them a viable option for many people.
Would be great if Open Camera would switch to JPEG-XL compression, too, for DNGs to save a lot of disk space.

While this employs the same compression methods, that's a bit different than the original Jpeg-XL ticket, which is about replacing jpg with Jpeg-XL for capturing standard images:

I've checked: Google Photos has also landed support for Jpeg-XL compression in DNG, while still no support for Jpeg-XL images itself. Super weird.
Anyway, this means that Jpeg-XL compression for DNG will work for most people just out of the box under Android. :)
