    Hallo,
OpenCamera always creates a custom binary encoded user comment in JPGs that looks weird on some exif tools. That's not a major problem but i neither know what this data is nor am i able to deactivate that. I have geotagging, gps data and pitch/roll data disabled already. I don't see any other advice in the manual.

    The questions are:
    1) What are these data blobs?
    2) How can i read/convert them to human-readable format?
    3) How can i deactivate creating this data in the first place?

    Hi,

I'm not aware of what this is. Under default settings the JPEG comes straight from the camera driver. In some cases the JPEG is resaved (e.g., options like HDR or auto-stabilise) with Exif tags transferred using the standard Android API. User comment is only used if the option "Store yaw, pitch and roll" is enabled.

I guess try some other third party camera applications, how do they compare? And if that doesn't show the issue, try resetting Open Camera's settings with Settings/Settings Manager/"Reset settings", does it still occur there?

You're right. The stock camera app does it as well. Looks like its the driver then.
    Thank you!
