    on Samsung A40 the camera automatically takes a photo every time you open the app.

    Same here on a Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact - did anyone find a way to stop this automatic shot every time you open the app?

    For me the solution seems to have been:
    I drag-dropped an icon/schort-cut for OpenCamera onto my homescreen.
    For whatever reason, what I dragged was a "take a picture" icon, that also was red - this one is for immediately taking a pic. Its not just a shortcut to start the app. I removed that. Calling the app with a normal shortcut does whot I want now: start the app, and take pics only if I hit the button...

    Same issue here on a Pixel 8 even after reinstall !!

    Bingo!! Just found the answer!! The above is correct !! You NEED to create the BLUE ICON app BOT RED to your desktop for Camera App to OPEN WITHOUT TAKING IMMEDIATE PHOTO !!
