Same here on a Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact - did anyone find a way to stop this automatic shot every time you open the app?

For me the solution seems to have been:
I drag-dropped an icon/schort-cut for OpenCamera onto my homescreen.
For whatever reason, what I dragged was a "take a picture" icon, that also was red - this one is for immediately taking a pic. Its not just a shortcut to start the app. I removed that. Calling the app with a normal shortcut does whot I want now: start the app, and take pics only if I hit the button...
