I've searched this site, but have been unable to find the upgrade instructions.
I'm currently running 1.44.1
I see that the latest version is 1.47.3
I downloaded 1.44.1 from the F Droid site.
What's the procedure?
Do I first uninstall open camera from my phone
then visit this site with my phone, and download the APK file (and presumably click install) :)
Or can I keep the earlier version, install the new version, and then delete the old version.
Or does the latest version install over the old version?
Many apologies, if these instructions are in plain sight somewhere.
Thanks for the software :)

I myself installed OpenCamera from the standard Google Play appstore, and then it got upgraded automatically to the latest version ... . Maybe that is the way to do it.

That works, but it should be possible to upgrade with F Droid too. In F Droid, go to the "updates" tab.

Yes!
F Droid worked very well.
On the F Droid apps page, I searched open camera.
It appeared in the search results ... I believe, offering an install link.
Instead I tapped on the entry, to load the open camera page.
Both Install and Upgrade options were offered.
Selected Upgrade.
The package downloaded.
Click Install.
Click Run.
Everything fine.
My previous settings were kept, but it is advisable to check through all the setup options, as there are new options.
Thanks for the help :)
I've made a development suggestion (in that forum section)
... Mirror the main camera image, and 180 deg rotation of the image.
This to enable direct imaging through a telescope eyepiece ... eliminating the need for a prism (which degrades the image quality) [https://sourceforge.net/p/opencamera/discussion/features/thread/f4c4c82517/]
